Key Fob Issues?? Ughhhh (1 Viewer)

Good thing the world came out with such an innovative and much-needed starting mechanism. Turning that key was really starting to be a hassle šŸ˜Ž.
While I understand the ā€œsimpler was betterā€ mantra I have never lost my keys or locked them in the truck since I got keyless entry. The likelihood of losing them went way, way down when they stopped leaving my pocket and being unable to lock the truck combined with the never leaving my pocket thing they have never been locked in either. Seems like a win to me.
And to the fob question, every time I see weird electronic problems I go to the water ingress answer. When my connectors were ā€œcompromisedā€ I had issues with the proximity sensors as well as the occasional ā€œkey not foundā€ message.

This might be a stretch as I know @Boston Mangler leaves no leaf unturned in refreshing his rig.

What is the starter battery setup and how new is the battery?

For the same reason we're talking about batteries in the keyfob, a worn starter battery, or one that is drawn down can affect key fob proximity performance. Does it make a difference if you're using float charger? Or if the rig has sat for awhile getting drawn down?

Thanks. Starting battery has a date sticker about 2 years old. Will be replaced here soon, just because

Odd nuisance i saw on the Prius forums about it:

-When having issues, remove the actual key from the fob
-Re-insert
-Try again

No idea whats going on, but this actually worked on BOTH of my OEM fobs yesterday when i tried it.

Got in vehicle, said couldnt find key and to touch button, removed key, re-inserted key, error went away and started like normal.

Usually id call this a fluke and write it off as old/bad fob, but it did the same with BOTH of my OEM fobs, one of which is less than 2 years old

Freaking laser beams man...

Yeah that's not right, shouldn't need to do that. That is the procedure if the battery is dead in the fob.
I replaced the batteries about a year and a half ago. I’ll swap them out again and see if there’s any change.

Well, simpler isn’t ALWAYS better. I see what you’re saying. I just prefer having the actual key.
