I've had a few offers on my cruiser but my wife has been gone for few days and I"ve been driving it and forgot how much I missed it. So I will be getting something newer like newer Yukon Denali XL for the family duties and towing the trailers and I'll keep the cruiser as my hunting/camping rig and I'll aim the Scout towards a rock crawler role. THanks for the good advice and I'll be annoying you some more. BTW I am doing this for a friend if you'd like to help out.

Good decision, I regretted the day I sold my unlocked 93... until the day I bought my locked 96 a year later :D

You will be grateful for keeping the Cruiser, not sure about the Yukon though. Definitely not my cup of tea.

When I was vehicle shopping in 2001 the first place I looked was 80 series Land Cruisers, I had always liked them. $25K at the time "with only a 6 cylinder" I though hell I will get a brand new Silverado (same base platform as your Yukon) with a big block for only 5K more, biggest blunder of my automotive career. It turned out to be a POS, sold it at a major loss and got the Land cruiser I really wanted in the first place.

if you want a newer familey hauler poney up front for a 100 series. it will save you money in the long run, please trust me on this.

All my life I bought and sold cars according to options, book value, market value, and time it took to turn a profit. I've owned somewhere around 150 vehicles, and turned a profit on most all of them, including one I bought new.

I lusted after the FZJ80 from the day I saw the first one till the day I bought my 96. I immediately threw all that other buying and selling logic out the window!
I bought mine in Oct 2000, paid $15,500 for it when like vehicles were selling for as much as $24k. On the way to pick it up all I could think about was turning a quick profit. By the timeI got home that was a fading thought. By the time I had it a month I didn't care about making a profit, all I could think about was driving it! That was 150,000 miles ago. Today I'm starting a HG job.

Having an FZJ80 is the second best thing I can think of to drive, the first is driving my paid for FZJ80!

Wife is driving a Ford Explorer that runs perfect with 70k. As soon as I get the HG done, I'm going to get her a 100 for her daily driver.

Good decision. If you get a Yukon/Sub try to find one with the 4L80E tranny which comes with the 2500 series. This is a fine tranny where the 4L60E is a miserable cur and not up to the task - especially (let me repeat that - especially) if you're towing. I think the biggest engine might have come with the 80 tranny even with the normal 1500 series - possibly as an option. So they're out there but hard to find. Like the locker on an 80 the owner won't know they have this valuable upgrade and they command no higher price (unless you alert them you're wanting it, of course).

Yea I've been looking. I'll be towing a 25ft camp trailer so I'm looking at a Yukon XL with the 6.0 325hp 365ftlb tq. Has the quad seating so its easy to access the back seat. Thats what i don't like about the cruiser is the boys having to crawl over the middle seat to get into the back as we have two carseats in the middle seats. I'm not sure if the 4.7 has the length or the power to handle a trailer that big. The up side is the fuel economy is pretty decent on the 6.0 especially on rig that size.

I did exactly the same thing. I bought a new rig and planned on selling my old 94. I decided it was worth more than it was worth, and decided to keep it.

I've found that I love it even more now that it's pure toy, instead of a daily drive.
