I don't have any interest in the product, but that was an awesome installation video and a clever mounting solution.

Yeah, that mounting system is very clever. It probably wouldn’t be crazy for them to sell just the mounting hardware separately for people who want to mount other things using the same mount location. I’m just not sure what I would actually use the shelf for...

I plan to keep my new WeatherTech windows shades, sleeping bag/blankets/sheets/pillows, maybe a small camp table/chair etc, maybe rain gear, winter outerwear, really anything that either folds up small, can be stuffed or rolled up. It will open up some space in my drawers as well. I might even be able to fold up my Exped MegaMat Duo +LW and slide it in there. Totally agree that they should offer the mounting system by itself.

Yeah, certainly some of those types of things will fit. I had something sort of similar in my Mercedes G-wagon - it was a ceiling net made by Frontrunner that was suspended by several rods that spanned the width of the vehicle. While it was handy at times, you had to be really careful not to harm the headliner when sliding things in and out of it.

The LC200 front diff removal socket adapter, and large diameter bolt style replacement plug on the Koan site are also interesting.

Depending on FX rate, its looking like $300 USD shipped, give/take a few bucks. I'll post up a review when mine arrives.

Thanks for turning me on to Kaon. Their dog barrier looks like a good option. Anyone have experience with their stuff?

I installed one of their dog barriers a couple weeks ago. Really like it- well built with quality components and good attention to detail. Had a couple questions before i ordered and the company was very responsive. Total cost with shipping to SC was $280.

What'd be cool is if they made the dog barrier mount with the same hardware as the shelf. Those clamps on the handles for the dog barrier are hokey.

I kinda thought the handle clamp seems like an interesting solution compared to the typical alternatives that often rely on pressing pegs hard against the ceiling, or something slower to putin/take out.

On the other hand...the second row headrest anchor seems a little weird, since angle and forward/back movement would end up shifting the rigid barrier. I only use half of row 2, so it doesn’t work fir me anyway...

I do kinda like the standalone ceiling unit though... Wish itwas a bit deeper than 18 inches.

Shelf arrived today! Some quick unboxing photos:

The mounting options this provides are endless. Its really well designed and feels super-stout. I'll try to get it installed this weekend, but so far I'm very impressed. Planning to buy some wing-nuts for the shelf so I can quickly remove it at camp. No way I can put a mattress on top of the drawers and sleep comfortably with the shelf right in my face.

On further inspection...
This definitely appears to *quality* stuff that is well thought out. Nice non-reflective powder coating. Install video worth watching. Clever solution, Didn’t realize they made the slots molle compatible. A nice addition...as are the bottle openers built in to both side.

Looks like it could also mount with the barrier to the rear so middle passengers could turn and pull pillows, etc. WillInstall inAbit...

@Markuson and @TheGrrrrr looking forward to hearing your reviews on this. Looks killer, with a 2nd kid on the way I’ll try and convince the wife we can store diapers and baby wipes in it😄

What was the shipping time to get it stateside, it is Coming from Australia ?

I love the MOLLE compatibility and especially all of the holes for bolting things onto it. I can definitely see some fist clamps getting bolted on underneath for carrying bigger tools on the trail. I think an Axe/long gun and maybe a rotopax water can could do well mounted up (secured) underneath.

Too funny! I just noticed this thread and the first thing I thought was @Markuson needs this! Flashlights for every occasion.

Ha! Guess I had that coming. Been a flashlight fan since I was first given one as a 5 year old in the jungle of South America. It was like magic on paths down there & loved flashlights since.

I’ve had the Blue Ridge Overland “attic” for a few years now...and while I like it better than not having it...I’ve wish it had an upturned piece in front to keep things from moving forward & sometimes falling out.

So I’m curious about the rigidity aspect and solid barrier in front or back.

Time will tell & I’ll be curious to see what @TheGrrrrr does.
