There are two geafsursa that we interact with at the meetings, One appears to be higher in the hierarchy, there was some banter at the last meeting about this geafsursa getting promoted to “district ranger” (I hope that is proper terminology, protocol?), so my guess is relatively high in the hierarchy? This is the one who relayed the info about the saw certification. I didn’t take it as, nor do I believe anyone else there took it to mean that a geafsursa would toil full time for 2yrs to become certified. I would guess that they have other duties to perform, training scheduling, etc. My take was the geafsursa was attempting to say that it was a large commitment of time, resources, that they were not willing to make for a volunteer, so any work that needed a chainsaw would need to be done outside of “official volunteering activities”? :hillbilly:
If someone would just point out the offending trees, I know of an unoffical volunteer that would go buy a new saw so he could resolve the issue. Maybe the "rangers" could paint the targets a special color so they could be easily identified from regular "loggers" marks. John

My guess is it has or will soon be taken care of. In my short time with this group, have observed that doing things in "official volunteer" mode is relatively difficult, due to all of the "protocol" getting in the way. Sometimes things are discussed, agreement that something needs to be done is seen as "unofficial permission", but it would be difficult to accomplish "officially". Later it's reported that the problem has magically improved. :hillbilly:

It is less and less surprising that our access is being closed off with these kinds of attitudes. Passive aggressive behavoir, and failure to engage the FS on it's own playing field is the bane of our existance.

Gossip works both ways. When you post gossip and second hand accounts of the failures of the FS, what do you think the very agency you are asking to keep areas open thinks about you and your community? Like it or not, the people that want to shut us down are playing the game. History has shown that more areas are being closed, and less are being open. Is there any relationship between coordinated professional effort and success?

The greenies know the terminology, they don't call FS employees names, and when they meet with managers to shut down areas they have their stuff together.

You are taking my approach as adversarial. Even when I have apologized if I came across the wrong way, you rehash my previous miscommunication. If you are not attempting to degrade, or discredit another's ideas, what are you trying to accomplish?

Do you think that greenies argue semantics, and discredit someone's opinion that is geniunely trying to equip them to be successful? Do you think that they get on the same page and work together?

 what is going on here ?

I thought most of the land gets closed so the government can accomplish their dirty land deals..
Most Areas I have seen growing up that were closed for "environmental reasons" were soon developments only a few years later. Which is honestly fine by me just don't call it something it isn't.

Wolfswinkel: Land. Money. Power. This is really where all of our public land goes. This is just one guy there is countless others that get in on the action.
