Had a flat this weekend in my 2004 Land Cruiser.
Messed up one of my wheels and the spare is damaged too, along with body damage.
Photos in following post. 3 year old BF Goodrich 10 ply K03 tire.
What Toyotas have similar wheels to see if I can find them in a Junk Yard?

If you want an exact wheel, you'll need to find a 2003-2005 Land Cruiser.

If you want anything that will bolt up and roll, you can look at 07-21 Tundra/Sequoia, 98-21 Land Cruiser/LX.

The 2004 LC has 18" wheels.
Couldn't figure out how to get the Spare down so I replaced the wheel with the spare off my 2002 LX470 that had 16" wheels.
Bolt pattern same but it got her home.
At home was able to pull off the spare on the 2004 LC and put it on instead.

So we need an 18" wheel for the LC.

Lots of factory 18's in the models/years above, but as said only an 03-05 LC will be exact.

Here are photos of the exploded tire and damage to body.

Nasty old Spare also with wheel damage.
Heard a ticking noise while driving home - a tire cord was wrapped around the roof luggage carrier ...

Clean up the spare to make more presentable ...

Around 55mph in a 45 zone. Not fast. A loud pop and then it happened.
wow thats a lot more damage than i thought would occur

Glad you didn't have any injuries. That's a terrifying tire failure. Really sucks about the cosmetic damage as well.

To this day, the only tire failures I've ever seen on a 100 have been BFG K02s. I know a ton of people run em, which is probably why I've seen so many fail (just sheer numbers) but it's been enough for me to simply not buy them.

Holy smokes.

agreed. seem to be a lot of other instances of chunks flying off as well. Not a fan

Holy ishhh, count your blessings that it didn't blow up while you were airing it up next to it. I'm trying out Grabber ATX as my next set

Its scary as I was under there 3 days ago inspecting the CV axles and for any leaks.

Holy s***, wasn’t expecting damage like that!

After a quick search of “ko2 blowout” I found plenty information to keep me away fwiw.

I checked the Tire Pressure in the remaining three KO2's and they were all right at 32psi.

ALSO, the usage was mostly Highway Driving. Rarely offroad and then visiting construction sites.
And the last time off of pavement was several months ago.

Is there any way where the tire company is liable? Will you file with Nhtsa? That tires history may be cause for concern, or perhaps why they upgraded to k03 now? Maybe at least try for a new set of tires. A true blowout should almost never happen on a maintained tire.
