Any recommendations on a replacement air filter for my 97 LC?
Is K&N worth it or just stick with OEM or is there another one thats better?

This has been hashed out a bunch, there is actually a thread in the FAQ about it.
It is only worth doing a KN if you will get any gains from it. You won't in a LC and it also won't filter as well as a OEM toyota filter.

the possiblilty of picking up 4hp on a 6000 lb truck isn't worth it, stick to oem unless you're going turbo.

Wow, everyone is nice to him so far. I have a k&n in my mini truck, not sure how much it contributes to my need to clean all the oily gunk out of the throttle body. I really need to put an oem filter back in.

oem

hey beno- what's list price on that?

OEM. K&N stickers belong on cars with Fart Cans or 84 Camaros. No offense.

k&n is evil, man. Like, totally junk.
You would be an idiot. No, no... worse, you would be like some evil zombie blowin' jeep drivin' retard to put a k&n in.

There
that's more like threads in the past that contain the words k & n

22 is close enough, thanks!

mostly just pointing out that the oem is cheap AND better AND less damaging to the motor AND easier to maintain. That's all.

K&N, Been running the same filter for 70K no problems so far.

Chris--

You are not in a dust prone area where all of the driving that you do is in very dusty conditions. Out west, the K & N is an awful filter to have. The OEM cotton based version is a much better cleaning element than the oil based, easy-to-clog K & N.

Yes true. But they use them on desert race trucks in the Baja 500 and 1000. Pretty dusty conditions. Plus the clogging makes it filter better. An OEM one is so restrictive and when it gets dirty it gets even more. I guess I am one of the few that actually likes K&N. Heck I bought one filter. Last me 7 years so far.

To each his own brother....

;)

Probably has a lot to do with the fact that I stare at a ton of 17801-61030's all day long.
