The guy who re surfaced my cynlinder head told me i may have some issues re-sealing the head due to the corrosion. Has anyone else had this issue before?

That's not good. Did he say how much he took off the head when he resurfaced it?

You might want to consider using a compatible gasket sealer/paint. Take 3-4 of your old head bolts, cut the heads off and slot them. Use them for dowel guides to hold the head gasket in place while you lower the head down onto the block.

It's hard to tell from the photo...the depth of the corrosion. Can you estimate it in thousandths?

Ideally that should have been welded before it was surfaced, or use a different head. Lay the gasket on, lined up with the bolt holes and trace the edges in that area, sharpie or whatever. This will show the gasket sealing margin.

The guy that processed your head should of noticed, measured, and repaired that damage before he milled the head. Choose a different shop next time.

Well , this will bring allot of doubt and wondering after it's back together.

I had an old golf gti vr6 that had tons of pitting etc. I put a metal gasket on and sprayed with the copper apry. Never had an issue but didn't really care about the car either.

With how much work is involved in taking the head off on this engine I would not want to take any chances.

Can you later the gasket on the head any upload another picture? That would help see how bad.
