I think that is steep but I got all my parts locally and pulled them myself.
You said you want power steering. I would find a FJ60 at a junk yard or put a wanted ad on craigslist for one and pull the steering column, power steering gear box and pump (with bracket), tie rod, relay rod, and everything from the knuckles out. Then clean it all up get new seals and maybe new bearings and tie rod ends (depending on your budget and condition).
You can use the inner shaft from the steering column for your slip shaft and the u joints to mate it to the gear box. The tie rod and relay rod will need to be shortened (about three inches) and sleeved, then drilled and structurally welded. Everything will fit together from your knuckles to your gear box. There are some other mods that are needed but they are all documented.

There may be some differences from your cruiser to mine but that's what I did and it cost me around $250 for P/S and disc brakes. It's not bolt up by any means but if you put the research in and get a buddy with a shop to help it is cheap and good.

I would expect to pay no more than $250 for a donor axle from an FJ60/62 or mini truck.

You will need a knuckle rebuild kit from Kurt (Cruiser Outfitters). I would get new wheel bearings with the kit and I think he gets about $150 for it.

Then I would probably go new rotors/calipers/pads. Maybe another $300ish.

Not cheap but you won't have to worry about it for a while. Great upgrade using factory parts. Modifying Land Cruisers the correct way is seldom cheap.
