Probably what the Europeans think we they see our junkyards......utopia!!!!!!

Let’s see it was about 15yrs ago I think. Marv at Specter Off-road had a guy (can’t recall his name at the moment) in SA who would find him things. Marv knew me a bit and I knew him, I had been to his place in SoCal a few times.

Any ways, at the time I was mostly into old Nissan Patrols. Marv knew this and actually had one himself. His guy in SA comes across four 1955 Patrols in a junkyard. He emails me about 40 pictures. I couldn’t believe it, pre-1960 Patrols are extremely rare. There was more than enough there to build at least one from the four.

The junkyard was being bought by the Chinese. At this time the Chinese were buying scrap steel from all over the world to melt down into rebar for a massive dam project in China. I was told $10k to save them plus shipping to the USA and I had to move on it quick. Sadly I didn’t have the cash or the time to round it up.

Those Patrols are now part of a dam in China. It was heartbreaking at the time, seemed like such a loss. ☹

Cheers

^^^^^ and thats where a decent chunk of our old metal ends up too unfortunately. Goes where the money is. More money sending them to Saudi then dumping them in a rot lot out here. Personally seen a truck load ~ 20 1hzs headed for the crushers at one time. Is what it is i guess
