Hey Guys,

I am lucky enough to have a HAMOM in June and I'm excited to have help getting my Piggie ready again for the trails. After GSMTR this week I'm itching to get back out there. I'm going to work my tail off to get easy things tied up on my Piggie so we can tackle some more 'fun' things.

So...here are the current plans.

Confirmed or might to make it at some point: clemson55, Trollhole, k9crazy, carpdawg, tatertot, VTCruiser, ClemsonCruiser, Gundy

Date: June 23
Time: We are going to start at 8am at the Classic Cafe in TR (blows Waffle House out of the water) and start wrenching around 9 at my house. DOES ANYONE WANT TO START EARLIER TO BEAT THE HEAT?
Place: My driveway - 203 Grayson Drive, Travelers Rest - I'm located in Watson Crossing subdivision on the south side of Travelers Rest just south of the old Travelers Rest high school and just west of where 276 and 25 merge momentarily on the south side of TR. You can call me @ 787-4504 if you get lost.
Drinks: Beer (PBR, Bud Light, and some of SC's newly legal high gravity beers)
Food: I'll have pizza delivered for lunch and for dinner we will have bbq chicken and ribs, and some sort of sides, grilled corn, and veggie burgers for the veggies.
Cigars will be provided!

Work Plans!... (a lot of this stuff involves welding so I've listed several other things that can be done w/o welding for other members to work on.) Stuff that I really want done has an *...all other stuff is just butter. Things are sorta listed in order of importance.

*1) weld in new passenger A-pillar body mount (received from IPOR) and weld in floor patch (already cut and bent)
*2) weld bucket seat platform in and install seats and console
*3) overhaul rear drum brakes - four new shoes, springs, and wheel cylinders on the way thanks again to Rick @ Ralph Hayes!
*4) finish welding door sill patches
*5) install steering center arm rebuild kit - GENUINE Toyota parts ordered from Rick @ Ralph Hayes!
*6) run power to tag lights and get working again
*7) diagnose underbody leaks for future repair - these are getting worse :frown:
*8) remove what I believe to be an engine block heater plug and wire
*9) straighten rear bumper - I'll need someone's rig w/ a winch for this. I plan on heating up the bent area w/ a torch, winching on it and beating the tar out of it until its semi-straight.
*10) fab up and install rear swingout tire carrier - I picked up an IPOR DIY tire mount - all we have to do is install a spindle ordered and received from IPOR, weld in a piece of stock to attach the spindle to the DIY tire mount, and weld in a bolt to secure the complete mount to the bumper.
*11) adjust parking brake
*12) adjust clutch if needed
*13) search for electrical gremilin that makes my battery go dead/doesn't charge my batter consistently
*14) weld front shock mount back to axle
15) clean-up wiring to rear of vehicle
16) clean-up wiring to front fog lights
17) sketch out idea for tube fenders
18) grind bondo off of rear quarters (not much there)
19) install rear quarter panel protection (welded onto rear bumper)
20) cut out rust on tailgate and replace w/ sheet
21) cut out rust on rear quarters near tailgate and replace with sheet
22) rip out headliner and insulation for access to rust for future repair or ~~~gasp!~~~ a CHOP!
23) we can even do an oil change if someone needs something else to do

There are many other things that can be done on this truck that I don't even know about. Once people arrive who know what they are doing they can help direct the work for the day. I know we won't get anywhere near everything done but the more we can check off this list the better shape I'll be in.

Needed tools: 220 welder and a vehicle w/ a winch.

I do have an Advance Auto Parts store close by for the many parts runs I'm sure I'll have to make.

Anyone is welcome to spend the night. The guest room is reserved for Heather. I have another spare room w/ mattress and couches. Breakfast will be served for anyone who sleeps over.

This sounds like a bunch of work but I am going to go ahead and knock out as much as I can before HAMOM.

I'm psyched! If anyone who can make it will post up I'll be able to get a head count and have enough food and  .

Thanks!!!:bounce:

If the 220 line you are referring to is the dryer then the answer is yes and no. A dryer plug is not the same shape as a normal 220 plug, you will need to fab your own extension cord which has the two different ends on it, kinda like the one I made when I borrowed Marshalls welder about 2 yrs ago. I believe I still have it and I could bring it its only about 4ft in length though.

I plan on attending and I will need several high gravity brews, JP and I had one at our fav bar the other night 9.2% flying dog imperial. The Plez U up the road with all the crazy beers has ordered 72 cases of high gravity since the law went through so there should be a lot of good beers around here before long. But thats enough about beer for now sorry for the hijack.

Richard - don't worry about the  brother - I will have that more than covered. If I have to run up to Asheville to provide a good selection I will!

What I thought I needed a 220 line for was the swing-away mount. Would your welder suffice? Mine says it will work on up to 3/16" and is a 110 but I would hate to have my spare pass me on the road.

JP's welder is probably rated about the same, as the one you have, dont know for sure though. I havent ever really looked hard at those swing away tire carriers even though JP has one on the 62 so I dont know if it would work or not. I might not have his welder by that point anyway I think when he comes back in mid/late june hes getting it back so his dad can use it.

Hmmm...well I'll run some tests on mine and see how it does - it might work...especially if someone is using it that actually knows what they are doing!

I'm sure I can find plenty of other things to keep us busy!

I suppose I could handle that. I'm moving next weekend so I should be going through everything anyway.

All floor patches are in (except for passenger front where I need a body mount) - one door sill patched and 2 more to go. I sat the seats in yesterday afternoon and they looked nice and feel soooo much nicer than the old bench I had. It now looks like I have use of a handheld tube bender so I think we are going to make some tube fenders for my Piggie based off of Lance Williams' design on his Pig buggy.

OK, I am going to try to get up there for this. I need to help the piggy...and Steve, of course.

Steve, I will see what I can do about that body mount for you this weekend.

Thanks - I'll owe you for your HAMOM. I have already emailed once with Dave. He wanted something like $85 for the mount and then $60 for labor...I politely declined. Lance Williams is making a new one w/ new hardware for around $120. If I can't get ahold of Lance before you go I'll need for you to hack the used one out...I'll let you know - Thanks! If I end up with two I won't cry...

Center arm rebuild kit just ordered from Rick @ Ralph Hayes. We will have GENUINE Toyota parts to rebuild my center arm with. I'm planning on picking up some steel to weld together my spare tire mount this week.

I'm gonna try to make this one, if I can get my own mechanicin' (that's a weird word to type... but i digress) stuff done by then. I'll keep you posted.

You've also got a PM...

I'll be there

I am in....boy am I going to weld me some good lines....or something in "Cruiser speak".......;)
