Hello there! Just picked up my 1999 Lexus LX 470 a few weeks ago from a family that’s owned it since it was picked up off the lot in ‘99. It’s bone stuck, and in overall excellent mechanical condition. The paint/clear coat shows its age but everything else is solid!

Just got all the baseline maintenance knocked out, and have the parts on order to convert the AHC to standard LC100 shock suspension. Am swapping in OME torsion bars, but other than that am keeping everything OEM.

Have some BFG KO3’s in 285/75R16’s arriving this weekend and just took off the sidesteps this afternoon. I figure I removed about 40 pounds in sidestep weight and another 50 lbs of dirt that had built up inside them. :p

Anyway… can’t wait to start hitting some more aggressive trails out in the Sierra. I’m sure I’ll see some of you out there!

Welcome! :)
Granite Bay is a very nice area. Every time I pass by that part of SAC (GB, Folsom, Rocklin etc.), I see a few 100/200 series LC. People there sure have great taste 🤩
Are there reputable local Toyota shops people usually bring their LC/LX to for service/repair? (I mean within the greater Sac area but closer than Valley Hybrid Stockton.)

My neighbor is a walking encyclopedia of LC knowledge and used to be a Toyota/Lexus mechanic. He recommended Red Sun Automotive in Rocklin and I’ve been using them ever since. They only work on Toyota/Honda and have been very happy with their work.

Took off the sidesteps today… safety glasses were a must as I took off 40lbs in sidestep weight and 50lbs in accumulated dirt and rocks. 😅

Got OME torsion bars and springs, and BFG KO3’s ready for install, just gotta figure out if I need to buy $400 in retainers and shock cushions to convert over to OEM shocks…

Thank you for the recommendation! :)

Welcome!!!

Last weekend I disconnected the AHC and installed OME 2865 springs and OME torsion bars and OEM shocks all around. Got the torsion bars dialed in to within 1/2” of where I wanted them and then slapped on the 33” KO3’s today. The ride height was magically spot on after the install!!! Can’t wait to get out in the dirt with her… got some more cleaning up to do on the underside and want to remove all the AHC components along the frame. Sliders are next…

Welcome. Was ahc removed because it was faulty, full of rust or were you unwilling to learn how to maintain this superior system?

Haha I was unwilling to spend 4-5k to bring the system back to life. The globes were bad and it rode super rough. Also wanted more weight carrying capacity for a high clearance bumper down the road so the standard suspension was the way to go. It’s rides fantastic now with the 33’s.

I’m in Folsom, I’ll my see you around town.
Heck yeah! I’ll definitely be doing some wheeling in the coming months. Have you explored any of the trails around here? I have quite a few on my list and a bunch I’ve already done.
