The easy solution for the panhard bar is an eimkeith relocation kit, which is actually 1/3 the cost of an adjustable bar:

Takes around 5-10 minutes of welding and allows the factory bar to remain flat, which is better than an extended bar that is drooping, as the axle will remain more centered as it goes up and down. A drooping, extended bar would result in the axle moving more to the passenger side when the suspension extends downward than a flat bar.

I never purchased new vehicles anymore because of the initial 1-3 year depreciation hit, however the 2022 GW should fair far better than most vehicles so happy you went for it.
When I see 2003-2009 or so GX's selling for $30-$36k with 140k+ miles I is kind of humorous to see the 2022 at $66k. If there is a comparison of say a 2005 vs a 2022 somewhere on here it would be a little entertaining for sure. Yes, I know, the $30k+ ones typically have A LOT of time and extra parts invested.

So, we picked up the vehicle on the 20th. Now, we must decide if we want to tear into it now and mod it up, leave it stock as a daily and get another Jeep to wheel, mod it up after a few years have passed and it is no longer the wife’s daily driver. Decisions, decisions.

Mod this one up AND get another GX!!!
Or get a Tacoma instead of a Jeep. Anything Toyota/Lexus except a Chrysler product! I'd even do a new Bronco! Although, let's see how well they fair once real off roaders get their hands on them.
Sorry, I'm in a 4x4 club with about 50 members and 95% of them are Jeep owners. I am constantly hearing about warranty work or needing upgrades because something isn't stout enough.

Lightly mod it. If you want a Jeep then get one. I had a ‘19 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the HEMI that I loved so I understand and I’m not a Chrysler hater either. Though, if I had it over to do again I would of bought the SRT GC since we didn’t take the Trailhawk off-road. If you want to wheel grab an older GX and mod it. Tacos are way too expensive for what they are so a GX makes sense. Just my opinion. :)

Been there done that with the SRT, but, the wifey missed her Wrangler on 37’s. However, picking up a used GX to mod does sound like an intriguing option…..🤔

Nice SRT!

Grab a good condition well maintained 2010-2013 GX and mod the s*** out of it.

*edit*
Oh and I really miss the seats, uconnect and steering wheel from my GC.

Very nice! Congrats! Where are you in DFW? We're moving to Celina/Prosper in January.

For just about anything engine or drivetrain related, buy only OEM Toyota or ‘made in Japan’ (denso, aisin)

Big box stores sell junk from China. Napa too. Avoid them at all cost. I’ve owned at least 25 Toyota 4x4s over the years and if you shop at Autozone/Advanced/Oreilly/etc… you will regret it. They sell trash.

We live in Celina. Small world. Give me a shout when you get here, I’ll buy you lunch.
Used to live in Little Elm and grew up some in Frisco back with next to no population. Small world indeed. Our family reunions used to be in Celina.

+1, Chrysler builds trash. They've had virtually no competitors with the Jeep for years until now, which is why I think so many people own them. I probably still wouldn't buy a Bronco until they have been out a few years. Fords rollouts generally aren't great either. They're already recalling all the hardtops.

Toyota needs to bring back a modernized version of an old school Land Cruiser. If only the FJ had a removable top. Id love to have something Jeep-like that has Toyota build quality.

Warranty work is one thing, but overall I think Jeeps get a bad rap, especially Wranglers. I owned and wheeled nothing but Jeeps for over 10 years. While I did do a LOT of wrenching, almost all of it was because I pushed the Jeeps hard, much harder than any Toyota I've owned.

I had my stock TJ near vertical too many times to count, blasting full throttle in 4Lo, locked up. Rolled it on it's side once, pushed it back over, kept moving. It was like a go-cart. They do have their limits, sure. I put a rod through the block of my TJ because I decided it was a submarine. Replaced alternators and starters probably more often than I should have because they were ridden hard and put away wet. Fun factor more than made up for it though.

Yeah, I’ve owned a lot of Jeeps, and until the last one, never had a problem. Many years, many trips, miles of fun. Now, I really wished Toyota would make something new with a solid front axle, They could take my money.

Not sure if a solid axle is necessary, and I've had SA 4x4's and completely understand the plus's, but I agree a Toyota needs a product even more capable than the FJ (last model) or any of their current TRD Pro's vehicles. Something with larger tires, front and rear lockers, maybe even a winch, more suspension lift, more armor and mostly MORE HP!
As good as the FJ was, it was kind of a disappointment to the hard core rock crawlers and off roaders. Huge blind spots, components were not as sturdy as they should have been, mediocre engine, etc. If it had been setup more inline to the new Bronco's and with all their claims (we'll see how that all pans out in the next couple of years) I think they would have had a true winner.
But Toyota has always played towards the safer side of their, let's just call it "fringe" vehicles. They want to and enjoy being in the "game" but not wanting to win.
Examples: The Supra was a great car, but better than many of the Pony cars or even some of the other Japanese street rods? The MR2 was kind of a weak attempt at a mid-engine. And how many years has Toyota not had ANYTHING at all that was performance? Just sedans, minivans and work trucks. All the TRD PRO's are good but can't out do the Raptor's, TRX's, PowerWaagon's or even the ZR2's that all come with either solid front axles and/or locking front diff's, goobs of horsepower and all kinds of body armor with some even swinging winch hooks in the front from the factory!
The only thing Toyota brings to the table is a VERY stable and LONG lasting platform to build on, but nothing off the dealers lot is all that capable or ground-shaking in stock form, just a great "canvas" to build upon.
I would LOVE to see Toyota really pull out ALL the stops and offer something that was class leading in both on road (road cars) and off road!

Thank you for my 2 minutes of soap box time...

While that is all 100% true, and I’d love to see the same… minus the solid front axle. Thow are super overrated IMO. Whatever they could be doing differently…people clearly keep buying them for other reasons; Toyota reliabilty and longevity cannot be beat.

Aftermarket companies make more than enough parts to cover most of those concerns. You’re also talking about the desires of a very small percentage of owners. A fraction of a percentage, I’d bet.

I can’t think of a single other manufacturer that would offer a free extended warranty on non-safety related issues like cracked dashboards. (10 years on the GX)

Jeeps have great features, no doubt. But I highly doubt they’ll ever be as many on the road with 500k miles, let alone 300k. I’d never buy one unless I lived next to a dealership and had a warranty.

Time/money/energy can all be put onto the same pie chart and Jeeps just have a higher cost overall.
