I just ordered a discontinued part from this online vendor. Has anyone used this source before with success? For about $9 shipping they say my a/c line should arrive in 10-14 days. Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

I've used them with a mixed degree of success. I have gotten somewhat rare parts from them for a decent price.

But, they sometimes say that they have parts that are discontinued everywhere, you get all excited and you make the order, and they charge your card/paypal.. A week later, they contact you and say that the part is discontinued and they refund your money...

Let us know how it goes!

Yes Amayama is legit. As stated above, they list lots of parts that are NLA even for them. It's always best to contact them regarding availability before ordering. But if they say it has shipped - well it got shipped!

Thanks Freewheel and OSS. Good to confirm that Amayama is legit, but I probably won’t find out if the part is truly available until they open on Monday. Crossing my fingers...

They are a great resource. Like others said if a part is NLA they will refund. I have found more often than not, if it shows availability they have it.

I’ve used them before. They are perfectly good. I tend to use Megazip.net mostly.
They have an email service that lets you know before hand if the part you are looking for
is still available, but through their parts listing they will indicate whether it’s available
or not.

I mainly use Partsouq and Impex Japan with great results.

Amayama needs to update their files on what is or isn't available. I quit using them. They have said several parts/oders are NLA and I have gotten them shipped from Impex.

J
So I've looked all gthrough the front page on that Impex Japan site and I can't find an English version at all. Can you toss me a bone?

Thanks to Zack, NeverGiveUpYota, TRAIL TAILOR, Cruiser Pilot and DogFish for helpful responses. IMPEX and Partsouq showed the part NLA, but I found the part (apparently available) on Megazip.net. In an abundance of caution I ordered the part from Megazip too while still waiting to hear from Amayama. Worst case is that neither have the part available and I'll need to fabricate the part, but this gives me hope. Best case is that only one has the part and I get my money refunded from the other!

Post up the part and the number here. Betting you might get some answers back.

I still want mud flaps.....

They have been discontinued for years now.

I know and that makes me sad. wish there were some good reproductions available. Meantime I keep looking for a set of serviceable OEM flaps that I can clean up and repaint the white lettering on....

So what is the source of the parts that the companies noted in this thread sell? Did they buy all of the NOS parts from Toyota when they started to discontinue support for the 60 series?

They are middle men who have deals with Japanese suppliers. Nothing more, nothing less. They have access to the supply they have access to. Everything is regional with Toyota parts procurement.

There is no special sauce outside of Toyota.

Zack, I wondered that also. Amayama in their About Us page says their focus is to supply Japanese Domestic Market car parts to destinations around the world. They contact the OEM suppliers (probably for most of their parts), but have some number of parts on hand in their Japanese warehouse (started 2004), Australian warehouse (2010) and UAE warehouse (for LHD vehicles, 2011). Seems like most parts for NAm come from Japan or the UAE. I’m guessing there is no incentive to keep a big inventory, so how old, NLA parts wind up in stock is likely by accident. Megazip seems to deal with a far broader range of brands, so I guess they are even less likely to have huge inventories for Land Cruisers specifically.

Yea, guess I agree with Onur

Did you ever get the parts or a notification from amayama?

Hi 80, After 3 weeks or so and in response to my inquiry they admitted they didn’t have the part and refunded my payment. I would try them again for parts that I know are available.

Same result with Megazip, but they got back to me quicker.

Not that you asked, but I sent my original a/c line to Classic Auto Air (Florida) in mid Jan after sending them photos. They said they could repair it for $45, but 2 weeks later said a full rebuild would be necessary for $100. I spoke to Curtis who agreed they didn’t have the correct thread size so agreed again to do the repair. That was 3 weeks ago and their promised delivery time has passed. Not pleased.
