Pretty amazing Darin. The guys completely dismantled my 45 in around 6 hours. Through all the rust and frozen bolts, only had to cut off a handful of them.

I brought the camera in the garage and never took a picture. Brian took a few and I'll take some in the morning of all the carnage.

What an impressive crew we have in our ONSC membership. Eric, Garrett, Ramon, Brian, Sean, Joe, Johnny and Jason tore into the 45 while I tried to focus on building Brian a double swingout. My focus was clearly impaired through the din of air guns, ratchets and the occasional "oh sh!t". I failed Brian and need to finish things tomorrow to have a clear concious for all the effort these guys put out. I owe all of them greatly, I couldn't have accomplished this task in a month.

Bottom line is the 45 is on Ramon's trailer, ready to drive down toward Lillington to get stripped to the metal. The windshield frame will take extreme measures to save, glad I have a back up. The frame is covered with so much "northern crud", I can't say for sure how it will shake out. Same with the bed and tailgate.

Yet, I'm so glad I'm going through this process. If I'd just tried to patch things, it would have been a waste of time and effort. Getting it completely torn down and stripped, I'll be able to put the time and effort where it will provide dividends instead of throwing money down a hole.

I'll update my build thread tomorrow with pics of the pieces and the state of things before being blasted.

Again, to my ONSC friends, kudos to your expertise, determination, cool heads when things challenged you and great accomplishments, with rain and wet ground the whole time. Well done men, well done...

It was a ton of fun Jerry, thanks for having us over :D Your chili was awesome!

Dangit.... I forgot my to go bag of quad choc cookies :D tell brianna they were phenomenal as usual.

It was fun fellas...and impressive to see what a determined and equipped crew can do to a 45 in a matter of hours. I had the camera too but didnt snap a single pic; too wet or too greasy most the day. Wish we got a shot of the bedrock crew walking the frame down the road.

Hope the neighbors forgive you ;)

On the iPhone so I'll be brief. Great day despite crappy weather. Leaned a bit, enjoying the creative process going on in tandem and throwing in a random thought here and there. Good food. Good times. And as always - GREAT people. ONSC is truly awesome.

Glad y'all got a lot done, Jerry. Sorry I couldn't come out and help. Had some plans fall through last minute and I planned on coming out. Woke up early, but I had a splitting headache that I couldn't get rid of. Ended up sleeping on and off til about 1:00. Can't wait to see some pics. We'll have to do another HAMOM when it's time to put some of it back together, so I can make over to help out!

So in the last 2 months 2 seperate Hamoms have dismantled a 60 and put it back together and dismantled a 45 to send of for blasting...... that seems like a good start. I think that's more than we've done in the last 2 years...... yay us

Good job guys

A lot of work has been done, for sure. I concur with Ramon, ONSC is awesome!!:grinpimp:

I've got pics from yesterday, but I'll post them with today's finishing touches in the swingouts...

Jerry if you're reading this, I'll give you a text, but I'm planning on heading over in about an hour...

No worries Allen, with all the hands on deck, big things got done. I only hope its not long before I may ask for another to put things back together...

Agreed Al, pretty strong group of members, accomplishing big things...

Jerry, build a frame for your 45 like this guy did for his custom 40 build:
Project "Goin' Big" FJ40 - Pirate4x4.Com

Just a quick look makes me think. I hope I don't have to go that route, as much fun as it might be. I'm hoping the frame is salvageable and I can avoid that step in the rebuild process...

Got it, I'm trying to pick up a bit so we can finish it and get you on the road before midnite...

Some quick pics of the carnage...

Take-offs, what to do with these things...

You KNOW that's what I'll do...

Update on Brian's double swing out carrier...

I'm glad I don't try to make a living doing this kind of stuff, I get thinking too much, strive for perfection and hate doing things "the easy way". In other words, I didn't make as much progress as I'd hoped with Brian today. We got the tubing bent, matched and tacked to the main arms. I couldn't just put a piece of straight tubing across the hoop and weld another piece right to it. I had to bend something and attempt to give it some "cool" factor. At least in my eyes.

Here are a few pics of what I came up with so far...

At the end of the "double barrel mount", will go the plate with the wheel studs to mount the wheel to.

The ladder is done but for finishing the rungs, when I finish it tomorrow, I'll take some pics of it and post them. All Brian will have to do then is drop the arms on the spindle, attach the latch and he will be good to go.

On another note, I took a picture of the "haul" found in the 45 by the crew, mostly canadian and one live .22 round...

I wonder if the truck came from Canada...
