I'm picking up a 1997 HZJ73 with the 2 long bench seats. I need to change them out to a single forward facing seat. I've acquierd the seat with belts, but need to see how the seat and belts are attached in the rear.

I gather there are rigs with just lap belts, and those with shoulder belts (attached to the roll bar). Photos of both types would be very helpful.

I promise to post up my installation photos on this thread as it moves forward.

Will try to get some pic tommorow of my brothers 73 and forward facing seat and seatbelts

Found it

Got a photo from some Japanese import site.

Got the rear seat and the required rollbar from a guy with the LJ73 (needs the cash to replace the head?)

Will get this in ASAP and be able to transport the wife and the kiddies and life is grand!

if that is the typical JDM located rear seat then you won't be happy.
roll bar and shoulder straps, nice score.

there is NO leg room, other than that it is comfortable, easy to fold up etc...

there are sliding brackets you can buy to move the seat back or you can look at relocation upon installation...

Fj73 Aus spec, leg rooms okay in the back of the middy I don't think I'd like to sit in the back of a swb unless there seats are closer to the back doors . The 73 has good room behind the back seat for a eski full of beer ;)
I took my brothers 73 for a 4x4 on friday night , I Wish Aus got the post 99 model middys I would have one over my 79 series for sure

Where can one get these sliding brackets to gain more rear seat leg room? It would be nice to have some more space for passengers in the back of my 74.
Thanks

Looks like Toyota used different floors for the bench seat and the jump seat configurations, the differences being that the jump seat with rollbar had the plates on the wheel wells, and the mounting points for the seat hinges and front and the locking brackets in back with associated support plates.

Looks like I'll be fabbing a little bit...

I checked with MOT, he does not have any and will not be getting anymore unfortunatly.

Nice Guy and Sawsall Needed

Looks like unless I get really lucky I'll be fabbing up a mounting bracket with the same mounting points as the picute below and welding it to the wheel well. (These are from the guy who sold me the roll bar, doesn't want to cut his out just yet...)

I like the idea that the captured nuts are inside the car, keeping rust at bay.

Anyone have an old j73 with these brackets you'd mind cutting out and shipping to 80439 USA?
