Gearheadefi.com has lots of info. Fuel pressure regulator being bumped up and STEADY, CONSISTENT pressure seems to be the keys to reliability on tuning.

Should not need one on stock TBI since any excess gas (gasoline) will get bypassed. Use a good quality inline fuel pump and you'll be fine.

Guys, he doesn't need vortec heads. With his gearing and simple, reliable 250ish hp he can go anywhere he wants. Jrob has a plan!

stock engine works great...I think stock is the way to go....TBI 5.7 is a good option and stock power is fine. I looked for a TBI 5.7 for a while before I swapped engines....I just ended up with a vortec first. You can't beat the simplicity of the TBI 5.7 and the easy repair process... its a great solution...in stock form ...everything just works

Just a little update:

Motor mounted, serpentine kit is installed, tbi, distributor, exhaust manifolds. Now working on getting the radiator mounted so I can run a mechanical fan, looks like the radiator mount is going to need to move forward about 1/2".
