Its been a long while since I updated anything. Part of that is just because the need to do anything to the rig hasn't been there. Its rock solid on all fronts regardless of how hard I flog her. This summer is looking to be quite busy starting with a trip to Lake Powell for a week on the houseboat and then towing our boat back to Colorado for the summer. I also have plans for reorganizing the back a bit so I can fit the new Partner Steel stove, larger first aid kit and a couple of other things more discreetly and securely. Starlink is in the cards too, but that will be hardwired to the teardrop. Hopefully, lots of camping with the teardrop over the summer. Little bit of a photo dump here too. Ended up doing the token front axle service about 18mos ago, guess I forgot to mention that.

Your LC is one of my favorites on here. Such a nice, simple build.

Post to document some basic maintenance and more prep for a busy summer putting the rig to work.

Full coolant flush - its been 2yrs since the last one. Drained at radiator and block, filled with four gallons of distilled, ran briefly. Loaded in the new green+distilled. Good for another 2yrs.

Replaced both battery terminals on the starting battery as they started to show a bit of corrosion and discoloration.

Replaced gear oil in both diffs, and replaced drain plugs and fill plugs with new bolts/washers - both diffs magnets looked as expected. No hint of grease in front diff oil

New fusible link, its been 5yrs on that one.

Need to think about replacing the starting battery. No hint of an issue, but its dated 9/2017. It may be time for that to be replaced too.

What battery terminals did you use?

I used to stock terminals, but price erosion has prevented me from carrying them anymore. I use these now.

I've never replaced terminals before...any tips? Just replaced my battery and may want to tackle this as well. Great photos and build.

No real tips, it's basically an R&R exercise. The only caveat is that depending on which bolt you plan to connect the fusible link to you may need to enlarge the holes on the terminals on the fusible link. Just some work with a file or Dremel, but it's a pretty simple task overall.

I love my 80 beyond words (like many of you, I'm very physically, emotionally, and financially involved via hours and hours and hours of sweating, swearing, wrenching, building, welding, loving, and roadtripping), but this build is just absolutely over-the-top perfection.

Whenever the time comes, please keep me in line for one of these elusive @LC4LIFE bolt-on rear bumpers. The tidiness, angles, boxiness, and incredible clearance just compliment the 80 body lines so well. My DIY Labs rear setup is great and it will continue to serve as the roadtrip option when maximal storage is required inside the cabin, but this would be perfect for the other 95% of the time when I'm rolling around town solo with a spare inside.

The attention to detail and OEM+ vibes this truck gives off are off the charts...huge props on the excellent build execution. 🫡
