Damn, is it nice!!

This weekend it will be going for a nice long highway run but around town it is comfortable, quiet, powerful.

This rig turns heads, Berni drove it to the detail shop and i followed watching people turn their heads to watch it go by, other drivers pull up along side and give the thumbs up. The old boy sure is an attention grabber.

<In real life the sticker looks good, real good>

what kind of fuel milage do you get?

Average seems to be about 26 to 27 mpg in the city although I have gotten better. It does 30+ mpg on the highway. Much better than I was expecting. It sure is a dog though. I keep a pair of sturdy boots in the back in case I need to push it up any big hills.

I didn't realize you were an importer when I read your post. Could you give me an idea what some of those parts sources may be. with my car I can get most of the parts at the dealer since it was sold here, but it would be good to have a source for some of the RHD specific items. Also how are you getting the Part #'s

follow the link to more pics in the origianl post...

cheers

these are the ones i deal with, very personable and knowledgeable.

Luxury is one of the oldest (of the new generation) importers in Canada. when we started up, Lost Guide was the first real Land Cruiser importer and Mustang was just getting started. we started up a few months after Lost Guide and bought lost guide out a few years ago now.
then a flood of importers sprung up especially in the west and we decided to seperate ourselves from the masses by specializing in only high end units....quality instead of quanity became our goal.

personally i have been wrenching on Cruisers for 26 years and started restoring cruisers back in 95, Luxury started in late 2002 and went "high-end only" in 2005.
we still bring in the lower units but very rarely and usually only by customer request. do a scroll through the sold section and notice the condition and milage of the units we have sold.
also the testimonials speak for themselves, we are the only company that i know of that actually puts contact info up (with permision) so prospective buyers can conact and ask previous buyers how they feel months even years after their purchase.

I am proud of the company we have built up, i hope it shows.

cheers

Wayne,

Very Nice...... Bernie must love it....

That truck is going to look nice with a little pinstriping from River Shiver;)

Todd

LOL!!
if it gets pinstripping it will be from it's new owner... not from me...

Wish I could afford it
:crybaby:

Ever bring any Skylines over? Can you do that?

i have held back on the skylines since they are almost impossible at this time to make DOT complient...

i watched as a GTR with 5000 km (five thousand km) in grade 5 with a "A" interior sell in Japan for $35,000 to a Japanese resident a month or so back. i did put a bid of $25,000 on it for personal consumtion but was SHOCKED to see it go for so much...
i believe that was the highest price paid for a 1991 GTR...
cheers

thanks Robin,
it seems the CRUISING stickers are a concern for some... i am thinking of getting them removed. the paint is perfect so there is no fade to worry about and there is a shop in town that does fantastic work on removing decals...

yes / no ??

Nice truck Wayne. I had no idea you bought out Darren. Thats who helped out on getting my HJ61. Great guy, by the way.
G

Yep, Darren and I still go out for luch once i a while. he is VERY busy, new job, 2 kids... you know the story...

cheers

Yeah take the CRUISING off. It reminds me of the 80s when people used to put
4X4 in 4 foot block letters on their rigs!

Great 80 though! I'm green with envy!

green bull... is that a new drink??

okay, lame joke.

thanks for the advice and the compliment...

cheers

YES definately take them off - it will look much better imo.

* I got my first ticket two days ago (going 68km/h in a 50 zone - crappy) I had a passenger. The cop walked up to her window and began quoting the clocked speed - I interjected that I hadn't yet adjusted the speedo for the tire size without trying to make an excuse.. he looked at her and suggested she place some decals over the speedo and then asked her for her DL and registration.. she began to dig in the glove box directly in front of her when he finally clued it. He said nothing, walked around to my side and began all over again. "Do you know why I stopped you today?"

We had a good chuckle but it still cost $138 bucks dammit.

Nice rig btw!

booked into a high end detail place in Calgary for decal removal, rust proofing and a full detailing...
it is also booked in for the BEB replacement and a general once over (#4)...

BTW, Stampede Toyota's shine shop SUCKS...(that is all i have to say about that...)

too bad about the decals...without them it's just going to look like any old white 80. if i was buying the truck (a fellow can dream, can't he?), i would insist that you leave them on.

but it looks like I'm in the minority here, so do what ya gotta do.

Robin,
I like them but the masses don't. I have had many many emails talkign about the decals...
in real life they look nice, not as bold as they look in the picture. the decals will come off on the 28th of feb when the rsut proofing and final detailing is completed.
till then if someone wants the truck with the decals left on he has a month to make up his minds...

first some background, Doug has appraised well over 200 JDM units in the last 4 years including almost 50 of mine (since i found out about him).
on this particular unit i told him the selling price and his response was " you are underselling this one". i left it up to him to put a value on it...
i got the appraisal report in today...
$40,000 .... holy crap!! he must feel it is in nice shape...
