It is finally time to start my tuned port conversion

Thats awesome lone gunman thanks for the info. The thermostat housing and the rad hose are the type of things you waste $ on trying to find the right combo. What did you do for fuel system? Are you using youre oe fuel tank? Submerged or external pump? What type of fuel line did you use?

yep stock tank, i made a surge tank or i should say my buddy made me a surge tank and i use two fuel pumps with the stock tank. (search surge tank) i used 6-an fittings on everything and had two custom hoses made at work for the hi pressure side. the one pump (low pressure side is a carter P60504 ) i got on eBay for about $36.00 the other is a walbro gsl392 (hi pressure side) got it on eBay too about a $100.00 and i used a fuel filter mounting bracket from a mustang ($5.00 eBay) because it has a built in heat shield. i may go someday with a Chevy S-10 tank in back between the frame rails with just one pump but for now this works. (search on here S-10 tank) and for your fuel rail fittings and pump fittings (an-6) go to Arizona TPI and buy there fittings (they are half the price of name brand) and if you need injectors go to Fuel Injectors - Street Performance and Racing - Bosch Injectors - Siemens, Denso, Rochester Injector Sets - FiveOMotorsport they have brand new for about half the cost of parts warehouse. i went with Bosch design three with four small ports for better fuel atomization. and here are some more useful links B.C. Broncos - Early Bronco EFI Fuel Parts and Kits - B. C. Broncos - products new home - Accumulator filter 1 qt. long version Tech Page EFI Fuel Systems - How do they work? What's a surge tank do? [Archive] - Toymods Car Club and also go to eBay motors and search fuel surge tank and you will find some too. here are some pics (not great ones) of some of the set up of my fuel lines. well good luck and i have to go back to the hospital and will check back later.

While it's still apart grind out the rectangular castings just inside the plenum, I also rerouted the water lines out of the Throttle body so you don't get burned as much when it's running and you're working on it. Thirdgen.org has a good forum for TPI motors

yep, thirdgen.org is a great site too. i go by TPIlandcruiser on there but haven't been back much since i got mine running. another good info one is EFI Basics oh and go to the bottom of the page i just linked it will explain VSS a little bit.

If Howell programmed your ECM without a VSS then that is what you should use.

While Jim will tell everyone to buy a VSS there are plenty of fuel injected systems out there running without them with no issues. It all depends on the programming. If your pulling all your stuff out of a stock vehicle and transplanting it into a new then you need to use all the sensors that came with the truck. If your getting a chip and harness from Howell then I would install it exactly how they said to install it.

HeHe, damn now that is green. I don't think you will be losing your 40 or any of it's parts anytime soon.

Today was a bit like christmas. I wanted to give the UPS guy a hug. Got the Howell package.

the harness looks great! i wish painless wood have covered theres. i had to do it with split loom not the mesh stuff howell used. and jegs has there own distributors and coils ? looks just like the mallory units or maybe MSD (nice) keep us posted on how it goes and runs.

Yeah the salesman at Jegs said that they are built by the same manufacturer as Mallorys. Half the price

If someone has been able to figure out how to control idle functions without a VSS working with the ignition module, I'm all ears!!!!!

Time to pull the old 350. This engine is a testamant to General Motors engineering. It came out of a 1972 Chevrolet Caprice. I ran that car for 3 years in our local demolition derby. It brought me two top 5 finishes. I lost the radiator the last two years Had the motor well over 300 degrees both times for sure. It was so hot both times that it lost all compresion and refused to run. When I restored my 40 two years ago I ran out of money and was left with no choice but to drop that motor in. I slaped a new set of head gaskets on it and have ran it in the cruiser for the last two years. Ran pretty good too. Just had some blow by that would make my oil pan leak on the hwy. The guy in the picture is my brother in law Rory. We are doing a TBI conversion in his 77 40 next.

Will need to clean up some wiring while Im at it. Got in a bit of a hurry when I was puting it together last time.

Ok it's time to start plumbing a fuel system. I think that i would like to stay away from inline pumps. I have done a little bit of research and think that the S-10 tank might be the right option for me. Does any one know what years of S-10 tanks do the job? I have a 90 Chevy p/u doner that is offering odds and ends such as fuel lines and coil pig tail. I am toying with the idea of modifing the full size Chevy tank beacuse my research tells me that the high pressure TPI pump will fit in the TBI sender assembly.

Update

Finally the engine conversion is complete. I picked it up from the exhaust shop yesterday. The exhaust had to be modified beacuse the ram horn manifolds dump in a different spot than my old ones. I ordered a flexalite trimeline electric fan, thermostat, and relay from Summit racing today. I think that is it for loose ends. Hats off to everyone that contributed information. Especially Lone Gunman, I don't know what I would have done with my fuel system without the info he provided. The surge tank turned out great. I built it out of some 4x4 square tube, and some 10 guage plate i had laying around my shop.
Next I need to finish my seat cradle for the my new Corbeau seats, and mount the winch and the CB my wife gave me for xmas
