In the garage.
The mindless banter seems to be updated daily on the HC forum

Yet here on the WC forum, it sometimes goes for days without any action

I am starting this thread for no other reason than to point this out

Being an HC guy, I may have no business pointing this out
But when has that ever stopped me?

I kinda pride myself on getting mixed up in things where I have no business being

Its a gift......and a curse

But I believe in doing the things im good at (there are so few)
and leaving the things im not so good at in an uproar, by doing them as well

Again, its a gift...a gift, im sure, many wish I would leave un-opened

So. What's going on in the lives of my Windy City brethren?
I mean, I pretty much already know, cause you all post up in the HC forum

Ok, I'll start;
Teaching my daughter to drive...
was much easier teaching my son, of course, being a male, he had the ability to listen
Where as my daughter, being female, lacks that trait
Also, she is wicked smart, & thinks that driving should be easy
Also, being female, she thinks she knows it all
Also, being female, she lacks the ability to be able to drive properly

I have, however, already learned her to drive a manual transmission vehicle

A skill my son was never able to get the hang of

Ok. I went first

Please follow my example, and join in

The next move, is up to you........

Well. I have been spending (wasting) my time and money on rebuilding this.

I brought it home about a week and a half ago. Sanded down the cabinet, stripped the paint off the control panel, coin acceptor, repainted, modified, replaced lots of stuff. Upgraded the wiring to JAMMA standards and rewired the entire cabinet, replaced the power supply, replaced the PCB with a 4 in 1 multi-pac setup, replaced the joystick and buttons. Plays pac-man, ms. pac-man, and turbo versions of each.

Still need to do the graphics and some small odds and ends.

Heres before and after

Nice!!

Bring it to the next event

There is plenty of room in your camper for an arcade

If this is just a random thoughts thread then…

Lately I have been interested in purchasing a farm house out in the boonies just to get away from my subdivision on the weekends. Most of my neighbors have a second house (condo) downtown but I would rather do just the opposite. This would be a place that has a few acres, at least ten, and already has a barn or two to store and work on my crap in. I could fix up the house but I don’t know where I would have the time since I have been called by many as a workaholic that also has too many projects (crap) that I am consumed with. I have contacted a few brokers and am blown away by them not following up with questions. You’d think that during this market they would want the business and pursue and lead they had. I’m tired of stepping over everything just to work on a truck.

Okay...

I started building my bar in my basement in the fall. The goal was to build it as cheap as possible and build as much of it from scratch as I could.

Mark should recognize the 40 nose.....

Sanded down the rough rip cut to 220 grit and poly'ed it.

Since I'm and audio snob, and while tuning my sub I noticed it liked to sit exactly in this spot and position, and its right where I wanted to build the bar, I knew the bar would have to be built around it. No, its not a fridge....

Yes the wall art looks familiar, my wife got a real kick out of it. She just doesn't understand this modern art.

Great work on the whole bar, not only do you have great fab skills it seems your carpentry and desine work also rock.

That is one badass bar! The 40 nose works out pretty nice too.

I've been mostly just sitting around eating Cheetos and watching porn.

Not really. My daughter's car burned a valve. Even though it had 216,000 on it I decided to replace the valve. After the job it smoked bad. Oil is just dumping in the cylinders. We replaced half of the valve stem seals, but none looked bad and it didn't get better. I broke the cam and cam retainer putting it back together one time while rushed so I went to the pick and pull and got a new cam and rocker assy. Put it together. Ran but smoked worse than ever. Then broke the key off the cam gear while it was running.

That was a wasted week.

And my a****** son moved back home. The Marines kicked him off the base and his wife said don't come back here any more.

So I've been spending a lot of hours at the shop lately.

Didn't work on the 45 much until Sunday, but it's coming along.

Thanks.

I dont think people understand the 40 nose until they see it in person. There really isnt a way to make..."I hung a rusty old truck nose in my bar"...sound like anything other than hillbilly nonsense. But I joke that if you saw it in a *insert fancy decor retailer name here* it would prolly be $1000....and fake.

I also do enjoy cleaning up after it....It never gets touched or handled, but it continues to leave itself on the counter below in the form of rust dust and flakes.

I think it needs an equally ugly bezel!!

And a drawing of the club sticker!!!

haha, not sure how that would go over during the family partys and when rug rats show up. I can just see it now......little kids just crying as they stand in front of it....Or little kids saying...."Hey thats a picture of Uncle Lester"....

Awesome bar, John

The rust droppings just add to the aura of the part
I say nice touch. That would up the price to $1500.00

I dig "Toyota Part Art" as I like to call it

I have some in my garage

45 is lookin good, Gum
Can't wait to see it all done

Shoudda called this thread "What the hell is goin on" or somethin like that

Nice to see what everone is up to

You all have some cool projects goin on

All I have to say regarding that bar, old school vid games and sweet old 45's.....I'm not worthy!!
Sweet projects!!
I haven't wrenched for 2 months. Would like to just finish what I've started.

And what would that be Walter?

Diapers, bottles, and stupid made-up songs to entertain the infant. :)

This is my life now....

but I love it. :D

At some point I may even work on a cruiser again.

Oh yeah, also been building a large closet/storage area in my basement the past few weeks. Finishing up today... next project is the garage, but who knows when that'll happen.

Just sliders for the 40. Matching the look I did on the drivers side.
Fixed a little rust while in there. Cut out the rockers. Need to figure how I want to fix to the frame.

Here is the drivers side I made out of .250" plate to try and match the look of the factory step.
