Probably cause he's missing a 'couple' of pounds up front....sure it'll settle when the engine is in!:p

mine wasnt that crazy when i had the sbc, sm465 and transfercase out...

but that staight 6 is damn heavy..

Looks good.

I guess those "double shackle" rears will increase the ole pucker factor when going down hill.;)

Start practicing your best "Oh s***!" now.

Just install a limiting strap or chain in the center to keep it from unloading and force articulation over obsticals.

Jeremy

It has never unloaded that far, but it will not see any more trails from now on. The next owner can do what they won't with it. This Cruiser will flex like CRAZY, I love it!

Just trying to look out for your or the new owners safety. It's not about wheeling. If you have to slam on the brakes with this setup they will unload and either render the cruiser uncontrollable or worse cause a roll. I would never run a rig on the highway with double shackles. Just my opinion.

It may flex awesome on a ramp, but I doubt they will offer you any real world flex or traction in the bush. They're called "ramp trick" shackles for a reason.

Jeremy

They have been on the Cruiser for 4 years now, and they worked great on the street and on the trail. Yes I do know what you are saying about the unloading. I have ran them on my Jeep YJ for years as well. I have never had a problem. I am running a set of custom long springs from Alcan(5"lift), and a Shackel Reversal in the front. Custom long springs from Alcan(5"lift) in the rear as well. The tire are 35" BFG Mud T/A.

I can put the rest of my engine together now!!! I order a new factory oil pump for my 2F engine and it was brought to me today by toyota. I had to order it from a Toyota store in California on Monday and it was droped off at my office today free shipping life is great. I love having a whole sale account.

Excellent thread, keep it coming! I'll be getting a star soon and starting a 2F rebuild thread of my own, but let me pass along a lesson I learned...

FSM says tighten down the timing cover bolts to 'N' torque, then install the harmonic balancer. Okay, not really the way to go...

When I took my motor apart there were grooves cut into the seal surface on the harmonic balancer behind where the seal makes contact. What I failed to realize way back when I built the motor many years & beers ago was that there's a spiral steel labyrinth behind the timing cover seal. The grooves in the harmonic balancer were from the labyrinth not being centered and having contact with the harmonic balancer seal surface. The front seal wasn't leaking oil though. It didn't appear to cause any damage, but it can't be a good thing either. I've seen labyrinth seals before on British transmissions, but not on an engine.

So instead of following the FSM on this, what I suggest is to install the timing cover with seal, then the H-balancer, and after ensuring it is centered, then tighten the timing cover down to FSM torque specs.

Just an FYI :)

I got my motor back together, and a few odd ends painted up. what do yall think?

I will paint it next, I just would like to know what color I should use. I would love to see a factory painted engine.

Does your left front shock hit your drag link? I'm running a 4 inch HFS lift and with the wheels straight mine is right next to the shock. I'm still in assembly, so I'm hoping the weight brings it down.
