I skipped town last week to get away from the DNC. I went backpacking with my Dad, uncle, and my Dad's buddy at Isle Royale National Park, an island wilderness in Lake Superior. I'm still working on the third and final part, but parts I and II are linked below.
Part I: http://expeditiondigest.com/2012/09...canyon-falls-houghton-and-the-quincy-smelter/
Part II: http://expeditiondigest.com/2012/09...i-the-voyage-amazing-sunrises-and-long-hikes/
Part III will be mostly reflections on the trip, the island, and how I would plan a return trip.

Sorry if I missed it but what maps/books did you use to research this trip. I've spent the last two years hiking around the Smokies and this looks epic! Much more reasonable then hoping to get fired so I can hike the AT. Great photos and a good write up. As mentioned, what an excellent way to spend time with the family!
