Is the OE key transponder system enough to prevent theft?

I'm just wondering if the factory key transponder system is enough to keep a 100 series LC from being stolen without having the correct key present. (short of the vehicle being picked up and carried off) I'm also curious how many are stolen and how. (carjackings, left running unattended, stolen keys?)

Is it even possible to bypass that system? (I wouldn't think you can)

I don't think you have to even change the ECU when I like others had problems with the relays in the fuse box I designed/built a new relay that replaces/bypasses the culprit relay... I might be wrong BUT the theft prevention only stops the fuel injection... best I could tell is that I could bypass that and start the truck... granted you still need a key or a way around the actual steering lock but it appears the "security aspect" of the system is little more that not allowing power to the injection system. that is why we purchase insurance...
