I see some put in GM 350 engines for better ecinmy or when the original dies, I guss. Is this detrimental to value or is it considered an upgrade? Is it advised?

Cheers,
Mike Stevens

In my HO it does not increase valve at all. from my stand point it is only advised when you can work on it and you know how the system went in and all the little details. For other mechanics to get into a swap to fix something it will cost you more to fix it. Their would be no flat rate for fixes on a conversion, as there would be no book to check for flat rates. I agree with Robbie 100% and I might add that you will not probably get better economy. That is a myth made up by people who just dropped a lot of money putting in a V8. Besides once you drop in a V8 you are probably lifted, big tires, bumpers, etc... that don't really help your mileage. For the expense of the conversion you could rebuild your Toyota motor. Even the expensive to rebuild Toyota I6s can be rebuilt cheaper than a conversion. It is possible that Bubba and his cousin can do a V8 swap cheaper with used parts and a couple of weekends but is that the conversion you want? By the way, I put a 350TBI in my FJ60. So I know about the quirks of a conversion.
