I am interested in swapping the Toyota logo out in favor of the "Toyota" front grill on my 1997 FZJ80.

I read the thread on the 60/62 swap and actually saw it in person at the monthly gathering in Austin last night.
It got me thinking about my new 80 sporting the older cooler IMO grill with the word Toyota instead of the Logo.

Is it possible? Has anyone done a switch?

It was nice meeting all the Austin area peeps and seeing the motley assembly of cool TLC vehicles.

In order to go from the "TOYOTA" grille to the "sombrero" grille (no matter which way you are going) you will require the grille, the center lock brace, the lower gravel shield and both headlamp assemblies associated with the grille you are swapping in.

If you choose to do this with new parts it is about 700 bucks, plus paint and labor.

Shame on you for staring long enough to see that.......:flipoff2:

It does not matter which way you want to go, you need the associated bits that go with the grille you want to install.

Actually, I kept seeing movement peripherally and was near convinced I was going crazy. I even brought it up last night at an Austin TLC gathering and people thought I was making it up.

Then.......I saw it when you responded to my post........bla bla bla.
Yes you caught me I was staring right at your crotch.:flipoff2:

LOL!

How about your own variation on the Satoshi grill mod? It even uses an original Land Cruiser emblem. :)

firetruck- that is an awesome idea, and looks fantastic.

john, before you do that...tackle those hub caps first!!! BAHAHHAHHHHH! :D

I bought the paint, it would be easy to do more thatn one set..

The PO had swapped the grille from "TOYOTA" to the Mexican hat on my '90. :D

While it does not utilize all of the screw locations it does an adequate/enough job of keeping it on where it needs to be.

Let me know if I can take pics for you.

Yup, he is a handsome devil isn't he. BTW John, your new ride is sweet. Unique paint, and that's the most pristine engine bay I've ever seen. Good score.

That would be cool. Are you saying po just swapped grills without all the associated lights and supports etc.?
