OK, I am back to ask the enlightened many as to what I have here. Seems to be part of a heater assembly, complete with heater core, yet I have not been able to find any reference photos of what I have. Most heaters I have seen are a small box either under the glovebox area or the center. The holes in the firewall that the hoses are currently going thru seems stock and not butchered. In the last photo there are holes to the upper right of the pic that look like there should be heater hoses running there.

More butchery by some PO or is it stock or dealer installed?

I will yank it out tomorrow morning and take some better pics of it.

Thanks
Bill

no.. looks like a standard dealer installed jobbie without the cover.

Pulled it out today. Must have been put in by the dealer. Dated APR 1960:) Looks like it had a defrost duct option dependant on the vehicle it was installed in. Mine has those closed off with metal. Almost looks like you would cut the thin sheetmetal to use those ducts.

Anyone have a pic of the cover/motor? Anyone got one?

Here are a couple of pictures of what we think the orginal heaters look like. One is mike's/Foxfab the other is Archie's. Both are pictured in the 25 forum, Archie;s is in it's own tread about original heater the other is on page three of FJ25 treasures. There is more about them there.
