The 119 degree weather today has officially taxed my A/C. I was going to order up a BG Frigi-Clean kit but can't find it anywhere. Is it available anymore? Is there an equally effective alternative kit with the valve and what not?

Amazon only has Frigi-Fresh, nobody has the cleaner. I've found some others but need an alternative method to get it in the case, no biggie but not sure which product replaces this one as well.

I too looked for a source of Frigi-Clean but came up empty handed. I ended up using a product called Lubeguard 96030 Kool-it Evaporator and Heater Foam cleaner with good results.

Amazon.com: Lubegard 96030 Kool-It Evaporator and Heater Foam Cleaner: Automotive

To get it into the system I drilled a 1/4" access hole in the plastic side of the evaporator housing box. The kit comes with a small hose that allows you to flood the evaporator fins with the expanding foam and let it do its work. I did this two summers ago, noticed a marked improvement in my AC performance, and it is still working well.

To finish up, I plugged the hole I had drilled with a inconspicuous black push-in plug like in the link below. Another advantage is i have easy access if I ever want to treat the system again.

Amazon.com: GM, Ford & Chrysler 6.4mm Hole Retainer (Qty: 100) Gripper Box # 2000T: Automotive

I did see that product, going to go that route. Thanks.

Can you show where you drilled the hole?

Dissent, cleaning the evap coil is a good idea, but i have a question? Since your system is not as cold as you think it should be, when was the last time you cleaned your condenser coil? If it's fins are bent, or packed with bugs, grass, mud and small rocks it's going to effect the performance of your system. When i did a AC service on my customers cars i always made it a point to clean the condenser as part of a complete service. As to your evap coil cleaning needs, i use a commercial product made by Nu-Calgon, 1-800-554-5499 (P/N 4171-75) it's called "evap foam no rinse". You just spray it on, no cleaning rinse needed, dries on it's own. If you can find some it works great, plus the spray can even sprays upside down. Here's a link to Nu-Calgon web site. Evap Foam No Rinse
Here's a link to their flexible spray tip kit. Talon

I cleaned the condenser mid-june with a hose to get the dirt, stones and bugs off. It did help a bit. I have bought the spray you recommended but haven't used it yet. The fan clutch mod has kept the AC at about 50* all summer on the freeway and about 65* in town. It's tolerable until I can tackle it again over the fall/winter/spring with a revamp. Thanks for the info!

On many cars you can remove the heater blower resister to access the evaporator core. No need for a hole. Call up a shop that has BG products to see if they have the fridgi-clean. A couple local dealerships sell BG products, and had the stuff on the shelf

They talked about that in that other thread and to me it seemed logical just to drill the hole. Probably faster anyway.

This thread has some pics of hole location, ,Posts 1, 39 and 65: Cleaning AC System and Evaporator

I just bought a new Frigi-Clean kit yesterday from my local NAPA store. $46 though, price has gone up.

Perfect, thanks! I just called up my local Napa and had them put in an order with their BG rep. It'll be nice not smelling the mold/mildew when the AC is kicking.

I have a cleaning kit I bought for my Lexus (smoker pre-owned) but never used.
It's Genuine Toyota and has aerosol two cans, one large and one small.

The big can says "A/C Power Foam Evaporator Cleaner & Refresher", "Step 1 of 2"
The little one says "ConditionAire", "Step 2 of 2"

Both cans say Part No. 00289-ACRKT

Hope this helps.

Looks like you found your reference pics.

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm traveling this week with little internet availability and won't have access to my 80 until Monday.

Looks like that part is NLA. From the pics it looks like the BG kit except it had a cone adapter which looks to stick in to be drain vent versus drilling a hole. Seems like that would be a better option, no?

Gents I’m upping this thread for 2 questions:
• What’s your experience with “Frigi Clean? Does this product really work?
• In our LC100 or LX470 we have 2 condensers, one in front and one at the back, I have seen their video on how to do the front but I cannot find anything on how to do the rear (drilling a hole a putting a tap fitting to spray this product through the condenser plastic housing box). Where is our rear condenser located at and how to access it?

As my rule of thumb for acquiring any used vehicle I need to service the aircon and I don’t see on any of the service history of my 06LX470 235k miles that the evaporator or aircon has been serviced or cleaned before.

Edit: Didn’t realize until I clicked post that this is on the 80 series tech thread. Apologize for this. But anyway any help is appreciated.

Got it in the mail today, followed the steps even watched the YouTube how to and I must say this thing works.

The evaporator drain expelled a good amount of dirty liquid (wasn’t able to take a picture).

We used this when i was a Tech in the 90's -2000's at the dealership , it would make a Road Kill Smell like Roses ...

excellent Stuff #1 A+

cant find step 1 🤔
