94 4Runner with 64000 miles? Headgasket recall has been performed at 48500 miles. At the same time all belts were replaced including timeing belt and water pump. Vehicle has been regularly maintained and is truly in excellent condition inside and out including paint. I know this sounds like a stereotype but it really was driven by an older Lady. It is an automatic with 4 wheel drive SR5 package and the 3.0L engine. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Michael

As I said on Yotatech:
Might be OK for the mileage, but I would never pay that much for a 2nd gen 4runner, plenty of them for ~5-6k with ~100-150k. As long as the head gasket recall, timing belt and basic maintenance is done, there isn't that much difference between 70k and 150k on a 11-12 year old toyota, IMHO.

The truck sounds like it's in good shape. But for that old of a 4runner , I dont think the lady will get 8000 for it. I'd look at what other 4runners in similar condition/years are going for and try and make a good offer for the seller.

For comparison I got a '94 Pickup, 22RE, 5 speed with 60k on it a few weeks back for $4800....beautiful rig.

Not that my 4runner is much cheaper at $6750 but I can back all the serivce and I'd bet my bottom dollar mine is in better shape even at 193k. You could look at it over in the for sale section and I'm not set in stone on the price.

I'd have to say if mine had only 65k miles I still wouldn't ask over $7500.

Yea 8000 is to much.
I bought my 94 4-runner for 3000 with 150k miles on it.
My 4-runner now has 220k miles on it.
If you look around you should be able to find one
for about 4-5000 dollars.
Also I would look for a 1996 and up because they have
the 3.4 motor instead of the old 3.0 motor.
The 3.0 motor LACKS power and does not get that
great of gas mileage. ;)

A friend just bought an old lady owned one owner 95 Limited Leather, in perfect condition, 4 wheel drive, for 7k. Had 95k miles.

I have to disagree. I would pay twice as much for a pampered older truck w/ 70k miles as opposed to one w/ 150k. If it is a year and model you like I would pay a premium. I consider my '90 to be in great shape w/213k on the odo. I have always maintained it with oem parts. It has been around the block though. The few times I have let the dealer work on it over the years they seem to not put minor things back together the way they found them (i.e. cable ties, clips fasteners, etc.) This adds up over time and comes back to get you. The more stock/orig. a vehicle is as it gets older the more it holds value over others the same age. Low mileage is a bonus.
Familiarity has made me a fan of the 3.0L even w/ its flaws. Other than the HG once @ 82k miles, it has been incredibly reliable, as have the other parts of the truck.
If this seller has a little time, she wil find a buyer to pay close to her price IMO.

My concern with low mileage older vehicles, is always what type of use was it? Many times they are driven mostly in the city and for short distances, which doesn't allow the fluids to heat up sufficiently to burn off moisture and other contaminents. Also, many folks will continue to have service work done based on mileage rather than time, which can result in a low mileage vehicle having more wear in the mechanical components that a vehicle with normal or even high mileage.

My dad bought one of the first turbo Supras in late '86 and drove it on nice days and on long trips. Kept it covered in the garage the rest of the time. He put a total of about 37k total miles on it IIRC. He sold it in 2000 for almost $13k when Supras w/ 140-160k miles were selling for $3 to $4k. He had all the records of maint. It was an almost new 14 yo car & I believe the buyer got his money's worth.
