I have a SA FJ43 which was in serious need of new springs. Thanks to these forums, I was able to identify what I needed. What I learned is that the front springs are a match to the FJ40 with an eye diameter of 25mm. The rear is the same length as a FJ45 with 30mm eyes, but it has 1 less spring in the pack. I had determined that I would purchase an OME kit and kept hoping for a great sale over Thanksgiving or Christmas, but that never happened. I then found a deal at Ironman that was too good to pass up. So - I grabbed the 2 inch lift for the FJ45... and my journey began:

I have Ironman on my 40 and really like them. Also had them on my 80 with great success.

So the springs are on the truck now, and I got the promised 2.5 inch lift.
I realize that I am using heavier springs and I am taking this all with a grain of salt, but unfortunately the spring hangers are verticle now.
I reached out to Ironman4x4 and they told me I need to get about 250 miles on them to break them in.
So I have about 500 lbs worth of crap in the back of my truck and I am bouncing around my neighborhood trying to break them in!
The ride is quite harsh for me at the moment and I really hope they settle down a little...

im in the process of putting a 2" ironman lift in, and dislike the shackle angle also, i wish the damn things were an inch or 2 longer
havent driven it though... but it worries me, i need the 2" lift, the only way the shackle angle can improve is by sagging, ergo loosing the 2" lift

One rule of thumb for the 43 soft top is to remove the 3rd long leaf from the pack. You don’t have the constant weight of the 45 bed. Unless you plan on carrying a constant payload of 500Kg you will have a nicer ride by removing that leaf.

So, did you removed one leaf?

yes - thank you - I did pull the 3rd spring from each of the rear packs

I also wish they were longer - they have the length posted on their site... I will compare the length to stock, but I am concerned they are the same length along the spring - thus making them short eye-to-eye.
I have a feeling I am going to end up fabbing a new shackle hanger and having to move them in to get my shackle angle right. I am not so torn up over it since my shackle hangers in the back are totally roached out and shaped like a pear, so I have to replace them regardless.

Take one more, you’ll not need those so much. You’d get softer ride and better shackle angle. I’d grease the packs too.

any suggestions on which one?
i had started with removing the lower 2 springs and that turned it into a 1 inch lift :)
I’d take 2nd from the top = below the main leaf. Then one after that, depends of the pack where are the clamps.

So that means the axle has moved toward the T-case? Did you hang the leaf pack in the proper direction?

I'd drill the spring perch and plate and Move it back/forward far enough to have 1" of play in you drive shaft splines.
