I'm still waiting on my replacement UCAs. I submitted the online form on 9/6 after I received a letter informing me of the recall. I still haven't heard anything.
I'm wondering if I should submit the form again or if I should just keep waiting for parts to randomly show up.
Still waiting on mine as well.

I received a Fedex notification yesterday as well.

Got my replacement UCAs installed yesterday. Shop charged me for 2 hours labor and alignment. Ball joints were definitely pretty worn out after less than a year. Hopefully the KYB ball joints installed in the new arms are more robust and will last longer. I submitted my receipt to Ironman. Has anyone gotten reimbursed yet?

Still don't have my replacements.

Just An FYI. I did receive my reimbursement check for the full amount of the install and alignment this week. I would say overall it was a good experience with Ironman. I just hope the new ball joints last a long longer.

yup me too.

I used RPM in Monrovia here in CA and they were very familiar with the process
swapped and aligment included

and they said I'd get a prepaid check card, but I got a check about 2-3 weeks after submitting the proof of exchange

Oh wow my check took almost 3 months to get!

For people who've done this: how much did your mechanic charge? Any hassle getting Ironman to pay the full amount? They say "approximately 3 hours (2hours + alignment) with an average rate of $150 per hour" in the FAQ but I think that sounds a little fast to get this done.

I was charged for 2 hours labor at $120.00 per hour and $139.00 for an alignment plus tax. I was reimbursed for the full amount.

Got my reimbursement today in the mail.

I was surprised to see they implied there was a $450 limit on the reimbursement form and they wanted photo proof of destruction of the old UCAs. Neither of these were stated in the up front recall statements or the NHTSA recall campaign which seemed suspicious. I needed $750 back and I didn't have a picture from the shop of drilling through the old UCAs. So I was prepared for a fight. But then they sent me the check for the full amount without issue.

I still have the old/recalled set of UCA's sitting in a closet.

They've done an A+ job with this recall, in my opinion. Annnnnd, I still need to submit the reimbursement request!

I'm in the middle of a summer-long trip towing a 25' camper. And apparently I don't spend enough time here since I was completely unaware of this recall.

On Friday, coming back to the campground, I felt and heard a suspicious driver's side front clunk. I probably searched on Mud for 15 minutes until I found this thread and knew that's what it had to be.

I bought this truck with the Ironman suspension just installed. I have put 50k miles on it since then.

I called the Ironman US office and John picked up. This was 8 pm EST on a Friday night, so 5 for John. He walked me through what he needed to know about the UCAs since I had no paperwork.

He then emailed me the part number I needed (MOOG K500018) to just swap out the ball joints, since I was moving on from that camp and did not have time to wait for new UCAs, while any shop would likely carry those ball joints.

What Ironman will pay for remains to be seen since replacing the ball joints required more labor than swapping out the arms. But I have been really impressed with how the company handled this, the fact that I was able to talk about my problem with a real person, and John's willingness to follow up with me and make sure I am ok.

I was back on the road this morning with new ball joints.

Such a helpful thread! Thanks! 🍻

That’s the kind of customer service that will make me stick around after a bad experience. Are you going to make any changes or run those UCA’s and new ball joints?

From what John said it is not the UCAs that were the issue, the ball joints were just wearing out prematurely so I plan to keep them.

Am I missing something?

Oh I was just asking. Recently, I kicked around changing UCA’s from what I currently run due to some bad experiences I’ve read or heard about but decided to keep them after talking to my suspension supplier. In my research this Ironman thread hit my rabbit hole so I was curious as to what your permeant solution was going to be.

Gotcha!

I had Total Chaos on my 2007 100 and they required greasing every two weeks or so. Drove me crazy. Those required rebuilding at 120k miles.

I am very happy with my 200's alignment and would use these indefinitely.

Just heard back from John. Ironman is paying the entire bill. $835.
