Are they still open? I thought they closed up a few years ago? My brother lives up there and had them do work on his rigs for decades. Good shop. They rebuilt the transmission/transfer case on my Piggy about 20 years ago, no problems. John

:pThanks for the info - I found them when I did a search for 4x4 shops in Prescott, located on Hinman street in Prescott. Looks like they are still open. I have to go over to Prescott to the Sawbones next wed ( about 100 mile+ round trip) and map quest shows Hinman fairly close to where I have to go. If I get the chance I plan on checking them out - just wondering how much FJ40 experience they have. I know by now there are several shops in the Phoenix area but that is a 250 mile round trip - looking for some decent reasonable shops closer - Prescott or Flagstaff are about the same distance - I prefer the Prescott area.

Talked to my brother today. He said Bob and the guys closed the IronSprings shop a while back. But, Nichol's Fab has opened up in the same location. He is supposed to be pretty good on Toyotas. My brother has had his Taco worked on several times at Nichols, and he says it is a good shop.

My brother and I used to go along with the whole Iron Springs crew to the races at the Parker 400 in the good ol days. They are a great bunch of guys. Too bad they closed the shop. We used to sneak inside the race course and camp at RailRoad Canyon. We were sort of the Secret Pit Stop for any of the rigs that broke down out that way. Over the years, we put a lot of trucks back into the race. John

Thanks:) again. I'll definitely drop by. A little bit of fab is what I am looking for. Power steering/ late model steering column first then probably power brakes - possibly with hydroboost with a 76 up front diff or converting my 66 front end to Disc's - then some day convert rear drums to disc -( maybe), convert to 4 speed before, after or during! - basic things!! So I'm looking for a place I can go to when I save the $ to get something done.

Sounds like Iron Springs were good guys!

Glad I could help. Too bad your not close to Mesa. I know some guys that do a great power steering setup on 40's. They even have a spare 4 speed sitting on the floor, and rumor has it they can do a nice job of a disc brake conversion.

Yea - just a bit too far at this time but definitely a consideration if I can't get it done right closer - just means a few more shekels for fuel. Gotta sell more blood to get it done any way - figuratively speaking anyway!
