I'm going to wind rock in Knoxville tenn to join the the Ga landcruiser group sept 26-29th (thurs- Sunday) all are welcom to join. There are currently about 10 rigs going.

Fattires are you driving there? That's a pretty long drive with no roof...

this time of year it would be great!! but I found a flight out of the Sanford airport to knox tenn for $38 early fri morning and $58 back early mond morning. so Im shipping the fj40 there and flying to maximizing my offroad time. if I had a few extra days id gladly take the drive. my fj40 will cruze at 65mph all day long.

Mind explaining how your shipping your rig? I have never found an economical shipping method.

That is a long haul for a weekend, so I guess Choco is off as well as Durhamtown? Moving back to Georgia sounds better every hot rainy day.

$400 to atl or $500 delivered to windrock camp grounds, via summit auto transport (by far the cheapest). Quote from the wife that inspired me to go..."you spend 100s of hours researching, fixing, upgrading, many 10's of thousands of dollars doing the same but when it comes to actually using it all you get skimpy with time and $.. seems backwards." so i said f-it im going, yeh im spending 1,000 to ship it round trip and another $125 in round trip flt. its still less than i spent on a winch/synthetic line/bumper 5 months ago and still have never used.

How are you getting from Knoxville over to Oliver Springs? That's another 30 miles. Granted, not the end of the world... but cab rides get expensive quick ;)

Also, Windrock Park won't let your truck on the site without a permit (just making sure you're aware of this)... so make some arrangements if you haven't already.

Yeh shes super cool about what i do with my $. funny thing is after she said that (last post) she grabbed her keys and walked toward the door. I said where are you going? She says to the mall to get a new pair of shoes... She's already got stacks. She's got shoes I ve got cruiser and gear.

Thanks cruseorlando your right, all paper work handled ahead of time. Add food fuel(diesel), camping, off road park permit, storage $4/day likely 8days. Likely cost of my 4 day weekend will be a lil chunk of change..(although far less than therapy if I don't get a break soon) I contacted Connie at wind rock they have storage there and she was more then happy to accommodate with shipping/ receiving duties. Connie also said she my be able to have someone pick me up from the airport!! Good old fashion southern hospitality. I think I'm going to pick up some peach pie on the way to wind rock for miss Connie.

Connie and I had a ... nice ... conversation when we were up there and realized that we didn't have as many days on the reservation as we thought we did....

They are really good people there. You're going to love it.

Pssst: take trail 12. I hear it's a gasser...

Psst : Just move to Tenn. , whole lot cheaper in the long run . I happen to know someone who is sitting right here right now .

Goodluck with the wife approving of your adventures super40 . It's been my 30 years experience that they always have something in mind . For instance Luie Vaton hand bag ( cost more than any wheelin trip) , out fits and you got to get shoes to match that new out fit . So just be careful and goodluck . I'll say a pray for ya .

Cruse Orlando don't you go and put some bad vib out there about my lovely Connie. Just because she answers the phone at a camp ground for a living, gets in the office there late, leaves early and sounds like she's been smoking for 40 years does not mean she makes bad decisions too often.... Sh-t now I'm worried about my pritty lil rig.

Hahahaha... yeah, she's a number all right.

Let's just put it this way - she was very nice, worked with as much as she possibly could... and by the time we were out of there, I had re-reserved the cabin for the next year - for the full week this time!

So - how'd it go? We need pictures or it didn't happen.

I already saw one cracked windscreen, so I know it wasn't an uneventful weekend!
