Hello All,

Chris here in Missoula. I know this isn't the bio section, but I thought a short version was appropriate. My family is all historically farmers from north Florida. While land is a million bucks an acre down by the beach, my family owns nearly worthless land closer to the Alabama border. Shucks! :crybaby: Also, the highest point in Florida is in our area. It's 334 feet above sea level. There's a picnic table, a toilet, and a 3/4 mile hiking trail there if you're ever in the neighborhood and want to knock out one of the 50 states' highest points.

I was an Air Force brat and have lived all over the world. Somehow, those places were always warm and flat. I first saw snow and/or mountains when I was 20 years old. First saw Montana a few years later. That was Billings and Red Lodge (Beartooths) in 1995. I was hooked. I converted to Montana residency while in the Army and went to college in Bozeman 2001-2004. Then Air Force and finally back to Montana for good (I hope) in 2011. My wife and I are grad students at U of MT. My hope is to move to Bozeman or Red Lodge after this. I know she'd like to stay in Missoula. Either way will work.

Anyway, I had a couple of 4Runners, 85 (1996-1998) and 86 (2001-2004), before and I appreciate the Toyota 4x4 quality. I did a lot of work on the 85 with solid front axle and, while still pretty ignorant, I had some base of knowledge when attacking the 4x4 world again two years ago.

When we were preparing for moving to MT in 2010 I thought another 4Runner would work but I didn't realize how small they were when you have a family of 4. That led to the Land Cruiser and here we are. We love our 80. Never owned nor even ridden in a 40 or 60. I would love one of those 40 lwb models with 4 doors or a troop carrier. Wouldn't mind a 60, but since I'm an 80 guy now.... I'm not sure why I would have a 60 specifically. :meh:

I've been reading the Old Rustbucket thread and have been entranced by it.

Anyway, that's my long introduction. I'm glad there's a Montana section on 'Mud. If you see me around please flag me down so we can meet face to face.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi guys, and gals,

My name is Paul as well. I live in Butte just joined 'Mud. I do not own a Land Cruiser and I am pretty darn poor, so don't know if I will anytime soon. Don't know much about them either, but man they are COOL!

Anyway, I have been noticing a lot of troubles with welding around the forum. I am a Boilermaker, have been welding for about 18 years. I started a thread for welding tips and advice in the tools and fabrication forum. If anyone needs help with a welding related question feel free to ask. It would even be possible for me to do some welding for you guys if ever needed.

Nice meeting everybody and maybe someday I can join the ranks of proud owners!

Hey all. My name is Joe and I live in Missoula. I've been on Mud for some time now but just found this board the other day. I know a few of you and look forward to meeting the rest. P.S. I own a '99 4Runner

Cruiser Head new to Bozeman

Hello,

I'm Stephen and I relocated to Bozeman in April. Prior to my move, I sold my '76 FJ40 so I could make the move. After being here for a bit and settling in, I have picked up a '77 Fj40 and hope to get it out in the mountains soon.

Anybody in Bozeman up for some weekend trail rides and/or having a cold one and talking 'Cruisers?

Cheers!

Fj60

Hey guys, I am a new cruiser owner and just got an fj60 a couple of months ago. This is my first land cruiser and I instantly started to appreciate the toughness/functionality of my 84 FJ60. Mine is pretty solid , but has 197,000 miles, so I did a tune up and started replacing gaskets to stop oil leaks. I have also rebuilt the carb and it is running pretty smooth. But, I digress, the very first thing I did was put on OME suspension which was a HUGE upgrade..... my rear springs were literally flat.....now I just have to save up for some bigger tires. IH8mud is an excellent resource and I am glad to see there are some MT guys on here.

My F60 is pretty straight and rust free aside from oxidized paint and rusting rear wheel arches. Check out my post on my rear quarter patch that I am working on.

Thanks

I am in Helena....but I am from the Bitterroot and spend time there and also Bozeman frequently.

Here is a bad pic from my phone, but it is all I have right now. It is metallic brown and oxidized and has a horrible 80's vinyl yellow and white pinstripe....but it is solid .

Here is a pic with a little more light. This was pre OME suspension. Check out how much the rear sagged from the flat rear springs.

The stripe may grow on you :) Check out a search on stripes on Mud!

I actually got it last summer and am just getting around to posting it. I have been having a lot of fun with it.

One big problem though, the engine is shot.
Trying to find a 2F for super cheap. Willing to trade for it. Cash is unfortunately out of the question right now. I am a welder/fabricator by trade and also able to do some bodywork.

If anyone is willing/able to help out, please let me know.
Thanks for looking.

check with brew8. He had a 74.5 F engine. I don't know what kind of condition it is in. Larry is his name.

Hey everyone, my name is Pat. Just bought a sweet 91 FJ80. Always wanted one and now the dream has come true. Bought it off CL from Bozeman. It has a log book with every bit of maintenance ever done, even every gas fillup (including octane, mileage, location, and price) since it was new. Stoked to a Cruiser owner finally!!!
