Hello All,

I have been reading HDC threads for the past couple of months and I am planning on joining and attending the January meeting...

I bought my '78 this past September from an older gentleman in Apple Valley, CA. He rebuilds Flat Heads for a living, something he’s done since 1951 and he received the FJ40 about four years ago as part of a business deal. The engine was rebuilt by a local shop and passed smog certification. It runs and drives very well… the odometer is reading 48K miles but no supporting documentation. There were some oddities and shortcuts taken on the smog install and I have been gathering parts to set everything right. I had the carb rebuilt by Mark and Dan has provided numerous parts.

My sons are coming home this weekend for Christmas and I was planning on having them help put the Cruzr back together. Here is where my request comes in.. I need to run new hard fuel lines from the pump to the carb and the return line. I thought I had all the necessary bits but I am missing two coupling nuts to cinch up to the carb and to the pump. I called Dan but he is out of town and I expect the nuts are not in stock. Does anyone have these nuts? I would happily replace them with new ones.

Here are a couple of pics…

Welcome!

Nice truck.

Thanks Mike!

My son has a 97 that we bought last December from Palm Springs... white in excellent condition with factory lockers. We gave it a tune up and this year he added Slee rock sliders and the last supercharger Dan had in stock.

Welcome!

Nice truck.

Oh Mike, you just soooo very much dissapointed Jon! You forgot the fresh meat, our slice of mud, and the mud welcome.

Guy :flipoff2: WELCOME. Jon can fill you in on the rest, but since you have been reading, you might already know. When do you need those brake parts by? I can look in the garage. I may have some used ones. I won't be able to look until at least Sunday.

Rudy

I probably have nuts from a '85 FJ60 2F. If they are the same as yours you are welcome to them, they aren't really a part I can sell as i finish parting out this truck.

oh and almost forgot...:flipoff2: Welcome!

Geez, I have fun with one guy (OK, maybe more than one) and I get picked on. Guy, don't let these fellas get to you. If you have been reading this forum much you know there is a lot of banter and BS that goes on. We do like to have fun, usually at somebody else's expense. Newbies are real high on the list.

Welcome - Nice Cruiser, and that looks like our neck of the woods, northern Rio Rancho. Hopefully we'll hook up at the January meeting!

Another one with a new post for you Jon. Maybe the rest of us should just wait for your proper intro.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

It's not the first time I've received a one-finger salute but it is the friendliest!

BionicCruiser, I'll check around for a cross reference PN... I expect they are the same. I have a stock 2F motor, Aisan 2 barrel carb with an 8mm steel fuel line. I'll send you a PM with my contact info.

Guy

Welcome Guy.

Try PECO (on 2nd St near Mountain Rd) for the couplings (I believe they are closed on the weekends). If the coupling nuts for the fuel lines are the same size for brake lines I may have a few extra from my brake job. I have never tore into fuel lines but if you need to double flare any lines and you do not have a flaring tool you can borrow mine.

We don't stock these. They are an "order" item only.

Dan had one in stock about 5 years ago... I drooled all over it and should have bought it. Dan told me he would hold it for me for as long as I wanted and then he sold it two weeks later. Liar, liar, pants on fire. :flipoff2:

Welcome Guy! :flipoff2:

Nice looking 40! If you're ready, Snow Run on January 1st!

Evan

Thanks! My son is here with his 97 FJ80 and is itching to wheel somewhere. I expect to have my wheels up and running this week but certainly by the first.

What are the details on the Snow Run?

Yer kidding right? We won't have any details until about Dec 31st around 7pm. Even then, those plans will change at the meeting spot. Like I've said before ...

It is only an illusion that we appear to be organized. :grinpimp:

The only thing I can guarantee is the run will occur on Jan 1st. We will leave in the morning sometime between 8am and 10am, from the gas station on the south east corner at HWY 550 and HWY 528. All subject to whim of course.

Oh, there is one more thing I can guarantee ... we will have fun. :bounce2:

and if you don't get stuck, you didn't have enough fun.:D (for most of us anyway)

I picked up a coupling nut from BionicCruiser this afternoon... Thank you!

Should get the carb back one and bend some tubing tomorrow.

I'm two minutes south of the Conoco at 528 & 550... hopefully i'll be up and running well by the first.
