Just wanted to show what I am working with. I had been scouring clist for about 4 years when she popped up . I was the first to make contact with the seller (a border patrol agent) and put money down sight unseen hence the name. I bought this about 18 years ago. I have been collecting parts and devising a plan.it was used on a ranch in south Texas . Why so long you ask. I have been too busy playing with 40s, 60s and 80s. Well I finally pulled her into the shop and it’s go time. I plan on keeping her stock ish and seeing what happens.let me know what you think.

Nice find!
Wonder what the bed was cut out for?

I believe the truck was used on a deer hunting lease and had a rack with a seat and gun rest in the bed.

I pulled the plugs and put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders and let it soak for 48 hours. Installed the plugs clean the points and she lit off like a
Champ. I think I fried the starter while doin this. So I am goin to have to order a new one. I think a gr starter is what I’ll be ordering. The boys have been a big help and are excited to get this thing goin.

Any suggestions on getting the 3 on the tree freed up?

I have one of Kevin’s tailgates as well, no worries on fitment.

nice project
I spy a 45 shorty in the background

Got her up in the air today. Found this filter. Are these hard to come by? Also has a Nissan oil fill cap. Lots of rust but most is surface . Had time to change rotor/ cap/ coil/ wires and plugs. The carb is a GM goin to dip it and see if I can get her to idle. Can anyone recommend a decent replacement carb that is available?

The glass bowl is kinda…however Toyota still sells the entire filter new OEM. On the new filter the bowl is metal. So you can take your glass piece off and swap it over. Or you can just purchase the small filter inside the bowl if the rest of it is in good condition.

Had a chance to work on her today she is running!!! Have a a weeping water pump. Need to find one. Are those still available from Toyota?

I just went through this with mine. It depends which one you have but it’s most likely the older one that’s hard to find. I believe I saw toyotamatt post one that he had for sale. I ended up sending mine off to Home - http://www.water-pump-rebuilders.com/ Wade was great to deal with and did a nice job. I think turn around was about 3 weeks and was a little over $150 with shipping. It didn’t hurt that he’s also a cruiser owner of a killer 67 FJ40 so he knows what he’s talking about. Hope that helps.
