Hey Brandon, welcome aboard. Nice cruiser.
I see Navy OCS in your sig. I was USN '90-'94 USS Harry W Hill DD986. She's probably been retired by now. I also noticed in true military fashion, your user name is lastname-firstname. Funny!

Howdy! Bring your Runner down to the meeting at Sonic on Friday, the 15th. On Broadway between Rural and McClintock. I used to live in the Springs, back in the 70's. Wheeled a lot of the Front Range area back then. More trails available down here. This club has everhthing from mild to wild. You'll like it!! John

I didn't know you were a Colorado resident John?
I was in the Springs in the 70's too. Manitou Springs actually.

It's a small world!

Thanks guys- I'm from the west side of Colorado Springs, Pleasant Valley if you know where that is. I spent a lot of time in Manitou growing up. In the 90's, not the 70's though...As for the Navy stuff, for your service. I'll be in the Civil Engineering Corps when I graduate from ASU, so no ships for me, probably be sent to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Hello all

Hi there all! My name is Kevin and just got a 99 100 series a couple of weeks ago. Myself and my wife live in Ahwatukee in Phoenix. We have 2 small monkeys, 7 year old boy and 4 year old girl. They are now old enough to go camping..thus the cruiser. I look forward to meeting any and all of you as soon as we can get out for one of the events. BTW if anyone knows any good cruiser mechanics or shops in Phoenix, Ive got a small laundry list of stuff that needs to get done to the former grocery getter (I dont think it had ever been in dirt before I took it up a very minor trail last weekend). No serious wheeling in my future for the truck, just want to get out to some of the back country with the family.

PS: John Hocker you know my wife Sandy (Garrido), and we have met in the past she tell me. I cant remember...apparently too many beers at some point deleted that memory:cheers:

Thanks!

Hi all.....I know BMAN (Branden). He invited me over here about a year ago, but I've been so behind on my buggy project I didn't bother to register.

Saw an FJ40 today that reminded me of Branden, so I decided I should get in touch.....and since my POS is getting close to finished, I'm hoping to get back out on the trails again.

I love Cruisers and would love to be able to wheel with you guys this fall.

Hope to see ya on the trails soon.

Close to finished...hhh..hh..hh..hahahaha Really?

What do ya have left to do? Other than get it on the trailer and to the trail?:flipoff2:

Welcome finally.......

What's up John?

I know, I know......it's been a helluva long road trying to finish this pig. It used to be a love/hate relationship.....now it's just hate.

I just got the hood/grill/panels back from Miguel's Psycle Paint......looks awesome.

The chassis is powdercoated.

I'm just VERY SLOWLY putting it all back together and then I have to wire it. This weekend I plan to chuck up some tie rod adjustment sleeves in the lathe at work and then mill my Sky steering arms so I can actually utilize all the thread on the Dedenbear studs. Once that's all done and I reassemble, the only thing left is the wiring. Eben's gonna help with that and he figures 3 weekends at the most. I just ordered up all the wiring/electrical stuff I think I'll need tonight.

I'm leaving for Hawaii in Mid October, so hopefully I can get it all together and take it out for a test run in early November, but we'll see.

I don't know if you've seen these pics.....they're several months old now and I took them before I tore down for finish welding and paint/powdercoat.

The above pic doesn't do the color justice. It's a red metallic powdercoat. In the sunlight, you can really make out the candy and metal flake. I haven't taken any new pics of the hood/grill with the new paint.....I just got them back yesterday.

Sean

***EDIT*** Ps....hope it actually fits on my trailer (now that you mention it). It's only an inch or so wider than my old Toyota was, but it was a press fit. With my luck, I'll end up having to widen the freakin' trailer to make it work......that'd be a fitting conclusion to this complete cluster**ck of a build.

Welcome to Kevin and Sean!!

Nice buggy, the front end looks vaguely like a Jeep Liberty.

Welcome all, Brandon, Kevin and Sean. Some sweet rides!! Don't know about that Jeep hood :flipoff2: Hope to meet you at the sonic meet on the 15th.

If I remember correctly you're running the old Toyota motor right. Great to see you here! You gonna come out on Friday night for the Cruise night at Sonic.

Fellas, this guy is a HUGE source of tech for all of us here. Sean's old Toy P/U is the reason I got into wheeling.

And welcome to Kevin and Brandon also. COme on out for the friday meet.

Ya Branden....still running the 22re (at least for now....got room for an LS1 later if I feel I need the power) and the stock W56-C trans with a front Toyota gear box.

Which Sonic are we talking about and is it this coming Friday? What time and where exactly? Stacey's out of town this weekend so I might come out.

Sean

Oh and Clark.....ya, I didn't know how the Jeep hood would be received but it was pretty hard to find a decent looking and light weight "skin" for my buggy. I just liked the way it looked. I am very much a Toyota guy (IMO, the best vehicle you can buy), rest assured. I'd LOVE to have an FJ40 like my Dad's or an FJ80 for cruising the easier trails.

Like Kevin said, this Friday. I spotted Stacey at Walmart last week, didn't say hello though cause it didn't click till I was in the parking lot.

Sonic is on the North side of Broadway east of Rural. We actually meet in the parking lot just west of the Sonic so as not to kill their business for the night. We have been getting anywhere from 15 to 30 rigs from month to month. Hope to see ya there.

It's alright Sean...you can run that Jeep hood on a Toyota drivetrain ;p ...I won't hold it against ya, but I may be impartial.

That color looks sick! As in good sick;) I bet that thing shines like a diamond in the sun! Did you do the body panels the same color...or an opposing accent color like silver or white?

Yeah, you'd better get as much done on that thing BEFORE you go to Hawaii...cause once that knot is tied...it's a bitch to get it loose :D

Ya, I'm seriously planning on being there. John, the panels/hood/grill are a match to the tubing (although they do have a little more metal flake in the paint as opposed to the powdercoat).....Maybe I should bring the grill to the meet on Friday.

I hear ya on the wedding thing too man......I think I'll be alright though. After 10 years, I think I got a good one. ;)
