Introduction

Hi Everyone,

My name is John Hocker, I think most of you know who I am (or have at least heard of me)

My wife Heather and I are very active in the Land Cruiser community, and USED to be very active members in the AZLCA as well.

I finally decided to join the Mud forum after many years of being a lurker. I have been following the creation of CSC since it's inception, and have been wanting to join one of the Friday night get togethers in Tucson (we are in Sierra Vista)

Anyway, after years of a major home remodeling project, it looks like we are starting to see the light and can once again get back to doing what we love the most, wheeling and meeting new Cruiser Folk.

So, just wanted to say HI, introduce myself, and say Heather and I look forward to meeting those of you we don't know, and seeing those of you we do know again!

John, welcome!!
When I first joined TLCA the first issue of TT I recieved had an article about 80's on the Con. I read about your adventure thru the Rubicon and now look forward to meeting you.
I'm trying to get cruisers together on the 2nd friday of every month here in Tucson and would be happy to see you come out. The meetings are starting out pretty small so far but if we can get a group of regulars coming out, maybe it will pick up. Check the Tucson Cruise thread and I look forward to meeting you August 11th.

Hello

Hello everyone, name is Richard but everyone calls me Rikki. I just left Power Toyota the proud new owner of a '07 FJ Cruiser, and ran across this site while looking around for more information on the beast.

I have been a die hard sports car fan for years, but after my 300zx Twin Turbo blew the entire power steering system, it got parked into my garage and my wife, who owns a Scion xB, told me to go get another car and work on it in my spare time (damn her, who am I to argue). After having such a nice experience dealing with Power Toyota here in Phoenix, I ended up buying a Scion tC.

After 6 months of breaking my back getting our 2 year old in and out of the back seat, hating the lack of horsepower (the Z puts down 500 to the rear wheels), and sick of seeing thousands of cars a day identical to it, I saw my first FJC parked at the local pub. Never really being much of a 4x4 type, I really can't explain why, but I fell in love with the car and started the search to find one somewhere in Phoenix. After being told by pretty much every dealer in town that it was going to be a couple month wait at the earliest, I got a phone call today (3 weeks after my initial inquiry) from Power saying that a yellow 4x4 Auto had dropped through and if I wanted to, I could come look at it.

That was all it took... while it had some options that I really didn't want on the car(included the convenience package, upgrade package 2, running boards, tow hitch, and all weather mats) , I took it home. Not really sure what modifications I am going to be doing to it, but figure first on the list are going to be some HP mods, and hopefully will pick up some pointers on getting into rock climbing/trail riding, and add on from there.

On a more person note, 31, live around McClintock and Elliot, work as a software consultant (no, I will not fix your computer ;) ), married with 1 child,
and look forward to meeting you all and starting to learn about 4x4'in

You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into... welcome.

To BMAN's welcome/warning - I am diligently working to determine the weak links in the Yellow FJ Cruiser. So far I've replaced the rear links (luckily before they failed) and my right lower control arm (unfortunately I bent it), and now I need to fab a better skid plate (it folded). If you have the OME aluminum skid, remove it and ebay it before you use it. If you don't have it, good - go aftermarket (I'm researching that too). Also, I was educated Saturday as to the value of the auto while crawling - I have the stick. Looking forward to meeting you -

Hi - I am Bill. Live in Prescott. Have 85 FJ60 getting converted with 350chevy and 700R4. Also a 75 FJ40 in progress. This past 5 months I sold 2 restored 40s and a restored 45. Not doing that anymore. Love to go off road but not into big rocks anymore. Rather just enjoy new scenery in remote places.

Hey LX450 Mike my wife is from Bellingham, Wa. Small W

Wow John, did you fail marketing 101?;p That door was left wide open for contact info and gluteus advertising and it's still swinging in the breeze!:D Or did you not want our biz?:whoops:

Not taking anything away from C-Dan, just received an order from him and have some stuff that I am shipping to him for trade. But it never hurts to another source and John is closer for our southern AZ brothers.

Add my name to the list of proud LC owners. I just picked up an FZJ80 (94) last week from a liquidator for a helluva price. I've always want to own an 80 and I'm a refugee from the yotatech forum as a long time owner of 4Runners. I've finally given up on my 2nd gen 4Runner and concluded after about $20,000 worth of mods and repairs that she and I just didn't get along very well.

My 80 is a high mileage vehicle (202,000) and I'm sure there will be many repairs and upgrades to come, so I'll be turning to this forum, and probably some of you locals in particular for advise. I'm already facing two projects -- boiling radiator and a tranny that won't go into high gear. Nothin a lil TLC and a weekend of quality time can't take care of.

Hope to meet some of you along the way.

Ed

What up Ed! Welcome.
Where are you located?

I was just up there the weekend before last. Spent time at my Mom's new place in Precott Country Club then over to a friends house in Higland Pines (on the way to Skull Vallye). It was beautiful up there. The weather was great. Spent most of the day out on the porch. Don't do that much in the summer down here.

Howdy! I'm up that way every so often. My brother lives across from that little one hole fire station out on Williamson Valley Rd. Back in the good old days, we used to go 4x4 up in the boulders along the west side of the road there. Not any more, though. It's been growing just like Chandler. I love to prowl around north of Wickenburg, in all the mines and the Hassayampa river drainages. Got a dirt bike stuck in my bumper up there a couple of years ago, but that's a different story! No, didn't fail marketing 101, just not used to a list that would allow that sort of thing:doh:

Anyway, I'm in no way here to "take" business from C-Dan, I know he's been here a while, in fact, if your in AZ you have to pay tax though me:frown:

But since you asked:

Howdy

Hi all-

My name's Brandon Gosch and I'm a new FZJ80 owner in Tempe who can't drive it down to Arizona until december ...currently a student at Arizona State and the truck's back home in Colorado. If you see a red '93 4Runner driving around the Phoenix area with Colorado plates, it's probably me. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of y'all and get out into the desert, I've been here a couple years now and still don't get out enough for my liking.

Cheers,

Brandon
