Hi All!
I am a new owner of a 1995 Prado KZJ78W.
In my state, there is a 2 month long wait for foreign title transfers, which need to be mailed in, so I am taking my time looking over the car. Already finding some mysterious problems, as expected! 😂
Looking forward to posting frequently!

What is the background on this truck? Was it painted over in Japan and then brought over? I like the color and the white roof.

Thanks! I love this color scheme too. The blue is hard to capture in photos, but every time I open the garage my heart races : D !!

We bought it through CarfromJapan.com but it was listed on several Japanese import sites at the same time.
Here is the listing from carfromjapan.com

It seems it was purchased by Flex Inc (flex.jp) from the original owner in Hokkaido.
Flex restored the vehicle and made some upgrades, conducted a series of inspections, and put it up for sale and multiple online brokers listed it.
Flex specializes in the used Land Cruiser and HiAce market in Japan. So far, I'm very happy with the work they did. The exterior looks like a new vehicle.

As part of the restoration process they added:

2" OME lift
33" tires
new rims (I forget the brand)
complete stainless exhaust system
LED tail lights
New chrome front and rear bumpers
Wood steering wheel
Wood shifter

The body looks immaculate. No visible rust at all. It seems like they removed the body for the paint job, but I am no expert.
The frame has some rust in sections, but it seems like surface rust.

CarfromJapan was responsive by email, but they absolutely refused to talk on the phone.
Also, the listing advertised that 20 years of original maintenance records for the vehicle would be included, and they were not, which was very disappointing.

I specifically wanted this color combination, so I was willing to pay a premium over other Prados that were available for much less.

Happy to answer any questions about the import process!

There is a good chance you would have the only blue Land Cruiser at this Falls 70 Series Meet & Greet…
Hint … hint. 😊
