Hello! Just picked up a, new to me, LX 570. Found this forum and immediately joined...

I had was on the hunt for a LC/LX 100 or 200 series and live in TX. Prices were a bit crazy every time something popped up locally, so expanded my search nationally. Found one from my friend Blake at Pistons Automotive in Albuquerque. (he runs an awesome business btw) Drove it back to Fort Worth this weekend. So basic specs, Black on Black 2011 LX 570 completely stock. Just ticked over 200k miles on the drive back to TX and is super clean.

Only issues I can find.... the latch on the center console doesn't work and the lid comes up easily, in fact, the lid hovers about an inch over resting position unless I have my arm on it... pretty annoying but not sure how to fix yet. Also, the audio/climate screen is pretty yellow and doesn't look great (not on my priority list yet). Minus a few minor scratches here and there, that's it!

Thinking these items will be first on my build list and always up for suggestions from you good folks:

  • Wheels: want to go to 17's or 18's and found some LC200 wheels (18s) for about $350... probably will go this direction
  • Wheel color: think I may do a dark gray rattle can on these with one coat of pearlizer.
  • Tires: pretty sure from all the info I can find on the web that I will do an A/T in 285/65/r18 or may try to squeeze 295/70/r18 but wondering if they will rub.
  • Chrome delete: seems fairly straight forward with a plasti dip, but will be my first time messing with this stuff
  • Roof rack system: thinking 'front runner' type, but seems pretty pricey (welcome to wanting to do mods, right?)
  • Sensor lift? I'm really not sure about this one... don't want to screw up the AHC and would really like to only do 1" not 2" if possible
Thats it for now... Like I said, I'd love to get any advice from the forum members, I'm up for anything at this point, clean slate!!

Oh.... what will I be using the vehicle for? Around town, second daily driver type, and occasional trips to the mountains in the summer and at least one ski trip to the mountains in the winter. Have an Airstream, so not big into the overlanding scene. Probably won't do anything more that fire road type use at most.

Thanks all, and here is a pic from the drive back to TX from NM

I REALLY want to go to 295's but have read conflicting threads for stock suspension set up. Love your rig.... looks really great. Which roof rack do you have?

With the LX and OEM Tundra wheels, all you need is 1-1.25" wheel spacers and to clear some plastics in the fender wells. Plenty of threads on that. You don't have to worry about all the LC guys complaints about bigger tires, as they have different circumstances (KDSS) to deal with. With Toyota IFS, adding lift without changing Upper or Lower control arms doesn't do anything for making bigger tires fit. So, it's a bit of a myth to say you "need lift" to run bigger tires, without some caveats explained.

Here's a thread on things you can do if you want to go down the AHC lift rabbit hole. This thread is pretty much the reasonable limit while staying with OEM parts. Shock and spring spacers can go a long way in improving balance between AHC globes and springs when doing moderate AHC lifts.

Welcome aboard! Truck looks clean as hell.

My AHC is totally stock, not sure what conflicts you are referring to. Share more?

It was really about the 295's rubbing the plastic bits and not anything about the AHC. I'm looking at picking up some of the stock 18" LC200 wheels (2018 year) and using those. I'm not sure what the offset is though and need to check into them further... but know they will fit up. Would rather not use spacers if I can get away with it.

I did read that using the 'sensor lifts' on these can wear out the AHC more quickly. So think I am leaning to keeping it stock OR looking into how I can raise the front .5-1" for leveling. I have a lot of searching to do on this, so know I'm probably talking nonsense.

It's really straightforward to fit you'll need 30-25mm offset so like a stock wheel + 1" or 1.25" spacer, or an equivalent wheel. As far as I know only Evocorse makes a 35mm offset 18" wheel. I'm currently running a Method 701 which is 25mm and it's tight but not touching.

Don't worry about this. People tend to baby AHC and make it the boogie man, and you just don't. My truck is sensor lifted since the day I got it and I'm 1000-1500 pounds over stock. There are some trucks even heavier. @MTKID is running 40s (or maybe 42s these days) on stock AHC. It's not fragile.

If you want to level it, just adjust the front sensors. 5 minutes in your driveway.

Do you have a trusted thread you know of that goes over the front sensor lift adjustment? Thanks a ton btw...

10 mil wrench, slide fronts all the down rears up. Tech stream to really do it ”right” though. 5 min “job”.

Oh and welcome!

If you’re like me, tape measure to fiddle and level.
Dont do it with the car running, you could trap your hand.

Will def turn the truck off.... haha. Is the sensor adjustment easy to reach with the wheels on? Just need to turn them? All the videos I find do it when the wheel is OFF the vehicle.

You can leave wheels on. Don’t even need a Jack.

no problemo, put it in high first. AHC off, truck off.

Great write up... giving this a go when I pick up new shoes. Thanks

Awesome, thanks! Will give it a try this evening...

Easy Fix

Man.... @lx200inAR that worked like a charm.... nearly ALL FOUR screws holding the lid were loose. Tightened up and works like new. Thanks again for sending the link.
