I replaced my starter when I replaced a head a couple of months ago. Truck is running great. But it developed a very intermittent no crank issue. When the key is turned the relay in the fuse box clicked and. The lights in the truck dim like there is a big draw on the battery. It just doesn’t turn over. Continued attempts to start always eventually worked sometimes after nearly a hundred turns of the key.
My attempts to fix this issue have been:
1. Replaced the starter.
2. Installed new starter connector by repinning it. It was broken and I suspected a bad connection.
3. EfI fuse showed signs of being hot, so I insatiably a brand new fuse box.

These steps fixed the issue for almost 2 weeks and now I’m back to no crank. Battery shows 11.7v by scan tool. I did try my jump box to see and no change.

anyone else been through this?

Short located and now fixed.

be extremely careful to clean the intake ports,
a good idea to stuff rags in the holes to keep foreign material out

I had rags in until just before this photo. I removed them before I tested the starter. I didn’t want them sucked down when the engine turned over. Right after this photo the intake was re-installed.

Good job!
