I ordered Goerges Task LEDs(great light product). I installed the map light and 1 dome light. When switched to "door" neither the back seat or the 3rd row seat light come on.(map light shouldnt come on this model year)They work when switched to "on" but no light when the door is open. I checked the plungers and they look clean(I checked all doors one at a time to isolate the problem but none activate the light.) So its gotta be a electrical/wiring. I have no where to begin, any suggestions? If I have to rip out the wire harness, its not worth it..not that big of a deal.
I found the following thread of similar problems but nothing was ever solved....

thanks,

Dumb question but did they work before the LED install?

Did the lights work before? I know both of my rear door plungers were bad so it could be possible that all yours are bad. One other thing to check is the contacts on the light switch (on, off, door) it self, might try cleaning them, I have found them to be marginal before. Good luck.

firetruck- your plungers "were" bad, how did you resolve this?

I sprayed them with electrical contact cleaner, which helped for a while but, they went back to being intermittent pretty quickly, it was just the rear doors which I didn't use much so I didn't do anything else. I think you can get new plungers from Cdan for less than ~$20 each, which would probably be the best solution, though if you removed the plungers you might be able to take them apart or clean them better.

no they didnt really work before, either. The replacement bulbs I installed a few years back worked for a while then died but never got around to figuring out the problem and left it until now when I installed Georges LEDs.

When I installed my LEDs at first neither of them worked. Keep in mind that LED stands for light emitting DIODE. Meaning current can only flow one way through the chip. I turned mine around inside the sockets and everything worked great. Give it a shot and see if that works for ya.

Ok so now you need to fix something that already should have been done. New bulbs arn't going to fix a problem that pre-existed and probably should have been addressed at the same time of the mod. Firetruck is on the right track I think and I don't believe the plungers are that expensive......Dan?

Not a sermon just a thought.....

Oh and I don't have many of those...... :flipoff2:

I just replaced both my back door plungers. They are not worth trying to clean IMO, and I am cheap! haha...It is a very simple fix, but you do pull most of the plastic interior panels off the back half of the truck. But they pop off and pop on. No biggie...
