the "light duty" LJ71 shares the same birfields as the HZJ7* series, actually from 1990-1998 all the *J7* series share the same front shafts

Yes, as posted in another thread a short while ago, it is the mid-sized birfield: Larger then the birf in the 1980's, but smaller then the birf in the 80 series. Post #19 of your LJ78 thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?p=800352#post800352

I believe "light duty" refers more to the "duty level" expected of the engine/tranny...much the same as was alluded to in other threads that touched on the Dyna/Hiace/Elf configurations (which I know dreadfully little about)

No worries at all...

For reference, I've heard you can use the older birfs in these axles, but not the 80 series ones. In any case, you have to ensure you get the mid-sized felt/rubber/1/2 moons from Ens, or there is a LC place in the USA that stocks the 1990 7* series felt/rubber/1/2 moons. Might be SOR. I "believe" the knuckle bearings and wheel bearings are the same. Wouldn't be suprised if Dan at 4wheel is going to be carrying the appropriate stuff too, if not already.
