I think that's going to be my rear bumper. Looks very nice.

How do those recovery points line up with the frame rails? They look a little outboard. I think I'd rather have them directly in line. Probably also want to go with some light insets a la ARB as the tire and jerry cans will partially obscure the vehicle lights.

Hey, so what are you guys doing for plate mounts? Moving them over to the ladder? Or does BIOR have a mount that can go on the spare. Does DOT require a light on the rear plate?

The pics of the bumper installed a couple of post up are my truck.

Yes there are two main types that Mike builds. The high clearance one with tube sides and the one I have. And yes, because of the trailer hitch you do need to cut a notch in the cross member. The build quality is amazing and the powder coating he offers is the best I have ever seen.

If you look at some of the photos I posted from CM11, you can see where the license goes. It is basically under the spare. Mike sends everything you need to mount it including the light.

The recovery points sit just inside the frame rails. The bumper is attached to the rear crossmember with two bolts and the frame rails with 4 more bolts each side. It is a non issue. the thing is way over built.

If any one has any questions, please let me know. I am more than happy to answer.

Wareagle - go back and read my thread on installing this if you havnt yet and make special note on notching the rear crossmember.

I agree. The bumper is super stout. I am hoping to install next week, so let me know if you need pica of anything.

What is the cylinder looking thing on the first skid plate? And does the last skid replace the cross member or keep it? It looks as though it keeps it. Could you post some more pics of those if you get a chance?

Here you go Shaggy.

What is the cylinder looking thing on the first skid plate?

This sits up against the diff drop and provides support to keep the skid from flexing.

And does the last skid replace the cross member or keep it? It looks as though it keeps it.

It keeps it in place.

Could you post some more pics of those if you get a chance?

Bumper and sliders are on. Just need to do skids and diff drop.

I would like to know how much the spare "jiggles" around on washboard. I had a custom bumper on and old range rover that looked the business, but wobbled so badly on rough roads that I had to remove the tire carrier.
Don't want to make the same mistake twice...
Thx

I have had the same bumper since last May. I have not had a sound yet. Well except hearing the bottom of the bumper bang around on rocks.....

I ran it pretty hard in Moab and never a sound. It and the Slee rear bumper are top quality!

I have dual swing outs on mine....with a 90+ lb Trail Grappler on 18" wheels....a Hi Lift...and never hear a peep. The plastic skid supports any sprung weight movement on rough terrain and with proper adjustment of the closures....it is tight as a drum and very quiet. I hear my DoubleTrouble Tow Hook rattling in receiver but not the bumper. :)

Nice ! another great looking BIO bumper and install.. I think the best feature of these bumpers are the struts for opening and closing the swing outs. Keeps you from slamming them and they almost open by them selves even with all the weight on there. even the wife can open them..

For yourself and others with a BIO rear bumper in mind keep an eye out for potential group buy in the near future....

What's planned on the fender flares? Looks great

I am going to keep them, but will likely paint. Just need to figure out what paint to use.

When you get things figured out, please post more pics. I am looking seriously at this bumper through the group buy and will have to figure out the flare issue as well. I am assuming you have to cut them at the body to bumper seam.

Sam, great bumper. I cannot recommend strongly enough. The attention to detail is amazing. I don't thing flares will be a huge issue. I think I can cut, then heat and roll. Might even be able to heat the flare and make it fit. It seemed to be quite close.

Can someone post some good pics looking back and into the bumper from the rear wheel? I want to see if it is just an edge or if the metalwork cups around into the feder well to better block debris that the rear tires kick up.

Sam,

I ended up cutting the flares with a fine tooth jog saw blade. I used tape to cover paint. The results were very good. I will post pics later.

Thanks man. I pulled the flares off this weekend. Driver's side was OK ... some wear on the body side molding, some minor groves in the clear coat, too deep to be fully removed with a buffing, but good enough. The passenger side was another issue altogether  If I leave the flares off (and I want to, the truck looks mucho better without them), it looks like I'll be visiting a body shop for a little paint work. I am still on the fence on that one.

Hijack over ...
