Phoenix Magazine works with CBT and is doing a photo shoot that will be in the March edition and possibly on the front cover. They wanted a convertible and was directed to me about a topless Toyota...what better than a topless FJ40?

It needs to be in photo friendly condition and driveable. The date would be in the afternoon till sunset on Wed Jan 25th. no pay, just the notoriety ~

No guarantees this will happen but need to start somewhere

PM me a picture of your rig if available and interested, or if you have any questions. I'd love one you cruiser owners to have fun with it!

Thanks, Murf

Mine too, bet a dollar the other John has one sitting around...;)

Or, paging Claudia..

My 70 is about as clean a stock FJ40 you would probably find. Removable top like all 40s, road worthy, licensed and insured. But it's up north. Toyota and convertible covers a lot more then just Land Cruisers. Wonder if they wouldn't rather have a sport car based on the name of the magazine. Phoenix = metro area not off-road.:meh:

My 77 Toyota pickup was on the cover of Phoenix Magazine back in 1988.

In the cover scan it is hard to almost impossible to see my truck, but it is under the trees at the lower left of the picture.

Red truck with white shell - parked right behind the yellow pickup.

I am working on one of the floors of the Bell Tower building (tallest one on the left with a pyramid roof) under construction.

thanks for the interest, since time was short they opted to go with a different vehicle at this time but want to keep in touch with us for possible future things.

Thanks for those of you who expressed interest in PM's, I will keep you in mind if they do indeed reach back out.

In my honest opinion it's the hard top with the corner windows that set the FJ40 apart from the jeep. Topless not so much. Same with the soft tops the OEM style bows set it apart from all the aftermarket tops also available for the jeep.

bikini top (as I am running right now) is still not topless

of course, it would take less than a few minutes to take off, but then, my 40 is quite a bit modified from stock :flamingo:
