Gone to the insurance boneyard....
Guys, about 2 weeks ago, I was trying to buy a cruiser. I bought one 10 days ago. This saturday, I was hit in it. Insurance has called it a total cosmetic loss. Here is the story:
Hit by 1997 Jetta, driver's front qtr panel, behind the wheel. Tore flare, crunched fender, and wheel well lining. Drive door is fine, going back on the truck is fine. Pushed into parked car on the right side, scratched pass fender, and ripped flare. Pass door back is fine. Hood, lights, grill, and bumper are fine. The truck does not drive straight. The hit has damaged some steering/suspension component(s). Nothing I can see, but what do I know? Appraiser notes, there is some visible damage on the A pillar, but does not go into detail.

The good: 1997 LX, no previous wrecks, clean carfax - I have it. Truck is in good shape. Interior is clean, driver's seat has a big rip, other seats are clean and in good shape. Carpet is good, and all electrics work, except antenna. Color is dark green, nice color for the LX. 148600 miles.

The bad: It was just wrecked. Slight oil seepage, could be oil pump, oil pan, for front seal. I did not have time to find out. No lockers.

Asking $2,900. This is to cover what Ins wants from me. I am not looking to profit, just pass the truck to a good home. this number might go down, if I can work with ins, will not go up.

the catch is you have to let me know by Tuesday night. If I can buy more time, I will do so. I will send any photos, or videos you want, just let me know.

I'm going to post this in the NC forum. Darn I'm looking for one as well, in Sanford.

The body work doesn't look bad at all from the pictures.

If I had 3 less projects I would give it a whirl. The oil drip is the real concern. Means something got pushed quite a bit. After a wreck steering geometry is a given and usually not to bad.

Do you have any more detailed pictures of the truck after that accident. I'm sure one of the the guys in the group would want it...to bad no lockers.

Is it available for viewing tomorrow? I'm pretty flexible with time, so I could drive out to see it in the afternoon.

Oil seep/leak was present prior to the impact. On the funny side, took it to Leith toyota that am for inspection and oil change. Everything is good one the truck, or was at the dealer Sat am.

Come on by, I am usually home @ 6. I will PM you with my cell. the Drivers front wheel is bent on the back, from the impact, but the spare is whole and untouched, so there are 4 good wheels.

What is the mileage and interior condition?

What is the mileage and interior condition?
148600 miles. Interior needs to be cleaned from the PO, and the drivers seat base has a rip in the center panel. Other than that, it is clean, and good.

I can take as many photos of the truck as anyone would like to see. It is in the drive way, as I limped it home after the wreck. This afternoon/evening, I will take a bunch of photos(in and out), and if folks let me know what they want tonight, I will email them out. drop your email in this thread, or PM me.

I would buy the 4 good wheels if you are looking to part it out.

I am in ATL and may be in Charlotte in April.

Scrap yard. Sad to see it go, but it left a long time back. Would have made someone a hell of a deal.

C'est la vie.
