Insuring my 1962 FJ40

I just got my renewal notice from StateFarm on my '62 FJ40

$249 for 6 months

Is this too much? The vehicle hardly moves.

Curious to hear what others think...

Well, a few possibilities. If you have a classic, insure thru Hagerty, they will cover the real replacement. If your insurance company does a similar thing , maybe that. Mine is insured as a classic.

I tried to insure as an antique, so they asked for pictures which I provided.

Once they received the pictures, they turned me down for antique.

The only reason to insure at this point is if stolen, or damage from a storm as vehicle rarely sees any action.

$500 per year seems high to me based on this.

Since I do not know the condition, I cannot steer you. Take some pics. I know Hagerty has restrictions but well worth it if something happens.

Just went on Hagerty.com and got a quote of $146 per year myself. That's all it takes for me!

state farm sucks, i was glad to be rid of them. i have all three of my running rigs on all state for now, i pay a bit more than that for 6 mos for all of them. i will be looking into collector vehicle insurance (like haggarty) someday for annie and my 45 (when i get it running), so will be anxious to see what you find for "restrictions", getting appraisals, etc.

I have found that State Farm is not Competative. During the winter I insure for fire and theft only since they are not being driven. It's cheap. I'm with Allstate.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong , but it's the opposite for me - I hate State Farm but they are way cheaper than Allstate on both trucks . Go figure . I'd love to have Hagerty , but no garage is a no-go for them .

JC Taylor is who I use. Stated value coverage of $16K is something like $140-180/year. There are restrictions on use and miles driven, however.
