I have a U.S. FJ60. I picked up a 12 Volt OEM Inclinometer from Oz. Has anyone done this installation? Is there a direct plug-in on the wiring harness and what needs to be done to the dash to fit the unit? As well as angle guages, it has a clock and light which I suspect will work when wired. If you've done this install, I would appreciate your help. Thanks, N.M.

Norris,
I got a mint clockometer cheap from Oz a while back as well. Anything in that hole insted of that worthless "PBJ sandwich holder" (a hilarious part description from another MUD member who's name I can't remember off hand) would work especially if it had a much needed digital clock. Besides the little truck on the dials look amusing.

I used this thread for wiring and installation tips-

https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/130865-inclinometer-wiring-60-a.html

It fit perfect in my '87 dash with no modifications. (make sure yours has the metal mounting ears)
I removed the stock wiring plug (as there are no US vehicle factory plugs behind the dash to hook it to) and added another one with a mate.
I installed the male end to the dash wires and the female to the unit so I could unhook if need be.
I also replaced the bulb before I installed it in the dash.

Yes there are many write up on this exact topic. Mine has a quirk, when I tun the dimmer all the way down my clock resets.

Guys, Clearly on this site there are wizards, would-be wizards, would-be comedians, and every other kind of tinkerer who operates from good will and Cruiser enthusiasm! I think you've all helped me a great deal. Many thanks! To be candid, without your help, I would have needed the much needed version of ....for Dummies, A Reference for the VERY SEVERELY Intellectually Challenged. Regards, N.M.

Hey, Norris, I realize you're not, but what is one to expect from a site where the greeting to Newbies is : :flipoff2:

Please post your install with pix...

I'm following this thread 'cuz I gave Marv Specter $100 bux for mine and it's still on the shelf --

Yeah - I paid for the privilege of tip-toeing through his stash and taking my pick of about 50 .....

Feel like tiptoeing through his pile of late 80's full floater rears and picking me a winner? :hillbilly:

(sorry for the brief hi-jack)

Sure - But damn, shipping will kill ya! He's got a lot of rusty ones... Will need rebuilding, no doubt.

You tried cruiserparts.net ?

Got mine from MAF ...

PM me if you're serious...

I installed a 4runner tilt/altimeter unit on my 1983 FJ60. I cut off the factory plug on the unit's wiring thinking I'd have to splice. Then I found an exact fit plug inline on the dash! SO, I wired the stock 4runner plug back on. The 4runner unit's plug has male on one side and female on the other, such that when you unplug the wiring under the dash the unit t's off of it.

The 4runner unit has no clock, so there's just 2 wires. Nice that it dims WITH the headlight rheostat.

You could probably hook into the dashlighting for dimming, then provide power from elsewhere.

I was amazed to find a male and female plug fitting in the middle of the stock '83 FJ60 dash light wiring. It may actually just be where the center dash light plugs into the rest of the instrument lighting.

Hope that makes sense.
