Can I solder the ACC and BATTERY lines together to get an unswitched powersource?

Is this a bad idea?

I simply do not want to have to use the key to turn on my stereo.

Thanks.

I did this to my old cruiser and didn't have any adverse effects. Just remember to turn it off when not in use as to not drain the battery.

and make sure the powe wire you use is a heavy guage, otherwise you'll run into issues with a lack of power (usually the display'll flicker when your running it loud)

and please fuse the line :D

I would not solder it, why not just clamp it on the power bolt at the battery or right into the fuse box? I agree on fusing the line for sure. radio shack has inline fuse kits for like 3$.

Absolutely. Fuse it regardless of where you connect it.

Also, I installed a separate power switch from my battery to run my AM/FM and CB radios that also powered a bright orange pilot light on my dash to remind me the radios were still on (especially if the volume was turned down).
