Is it crazy to even consider putting ac on an Fj45? Will it work? I know it will have to be one of those aftermarket units, and usually those systems never cool you down. Any types i should look into?
Thanks
my truck is a 77 fj45 2f engine.

why would you say it'll never cool you down? I'm going to put AC in mine.. many others have installed AC as well.. I am not going to put in one of those systems built for a 40 tho.. Takes up WAY too much room.. I'll be putting in Hot rod style Airconditioning. couple others around here have installed the same system. Classic Auto Air is what Gary Cobberly put in his and says it works great.. I think Buck put same in one of his builds. tucks up under the dash, It's a small cab. shouldn't be a problem. Removable floormats with insulation would make a huge difference. I know they did in my 40..

Try this one:

TPI4x4

I am considering it myself, but have not pulled the trigger.

If you get one, let us know how it works.

I used this system on my 45 and it cools the cab down very well. I have dynomat on my floors and all new seals and gaskets on the doors....the cab is very tight. Can't keep the fan speed greater than low or it gets too cold. Pretty impressive when you consider that there is zero insulation in that cab and I'm in Florida. Aftermarket Air Conditioning For Automobiles and AC parts. They have one for a 40....that's what I used. Fits tight under the dash and didn't lose any real legroom. This pic was of a test fit....the interior has since been redone. I'm doing a heavy vinyl floor mat next in the truck to help cut down even more noise. I drive the truck daily....couldn't do it here without the AC.
