I am getting ready to throw a line lock in. I have the summit line lock in my hands and some metric brake line ends from my cruiser. I have a double flaring tool to make my own brake lines. ( I thought that I would have to make a Metric on one end and a SAE on the other to adapt to the line lock)

But I am confused....( not the first time by any stretch)

I did not think Metric and SAE brake line ends had the same thread pitch? I assume that a part coming from summit made by summit would be an SAE part. I called summit up and the guy on the phone did not know anything and the box or instruction dont mention anything about it being SAE or metric.

Could an some one clue me in here? Can either one work?

Nnnnnnnnnnnever mind I found it.

Are you puttin in a cutting brake? Or just a better parking brake?

Chris

Cutting brake to the front wheels, So I can lock the front and put it in 2lo and scoot the rather large a$$ of the fj60 around trees and rocks....oh and to pass TLCA inspection up at Tellico:D

yeah they actually are the same thread pitch in cruiser size, I buy SAE brake lines all the time. I prefer reusing OEM ones if possible but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I have a line lock and I love it. I use it as my e brake too but I wouldn't recommend it because its a PITA and drains your battery after a day or two of being on.. I would put it on a switch somewhere and using for wheeling only. But that said, it is just awesome for wheeling. I put mine on the disks up front, but in 4WD that means all 4 wheels are locked... :)

When i put in my residual valve i realized that my brake lines are almost exactly 3/16. Bet yours are too, if that helps out at all.

Lowtide-

Which line lock from Summit did you go with?

the 60 some dollar one from there web site. Comes with a button and a light, no brake lines though.

I put on two line locks for front and rear. more of an anti theft device though.

The line locks I used had an arrow near the fittings to show fluid flow direction. So I first installed them with the arrow toward fluid flow direction per dirrections. They wouldn't lock. I ended up installing them backwards to get the brakes to lock. So if it doesn't work, flip it around.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-760000&N=115&autoview=sku here is the line lock I got. I got it plumbed but ran out of energy and light to get it wired. I made the brake lines and I sure do hate double flaring crap. Buut its in and Ill let you guys know how it works out.

Steve did you wire those line locks up in your Vega-StinK:D ? You should get a NP 203 doubler to throw in behind the NV4500...

Hey Brudda Wenis give me a ring when ya start flaring crap for your rear discs...;)

fawkingg tatter salladdd...

i'm just going to electrical tape the lines together ...no need for flaring .. if it leaks i'll solder them.. lol good luck brother

Thanks for the info Lowtide!

Yep, Got them on my stinkymobile.
Another good purpose for linelocks is holding the vehicle put while winching someone else. Wish I had a winch.

I was thinking it would good to have them on next time I get stuck in the middle of knuckle buster. Last time I got stuck there I thought my leg was gonna break trying to hold Velveeta still long enough to get a strap on the truck before I rolled down backwards. He Steve you are mentioned in May/June TT so keep an eye out for it this month...;)
